Highway 7 West rapidway construction:
Median removal at CN bridge starts tonight

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue to prepare for building a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West from west of Jane Street to east of Keele Street.

Starting tonight, crews will be removing the centre median on the bridge carrying Highway 7 over the Canadian National Railway tracks.

From 8 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow and continuing overnight nightly until 6 a.m. October 11, crews will temporarily close the east- and westbound median lanes on the bridge west of Keele Street. They’ll be getting ready for future work to widen the bridge for so it can accommodate the future rapidway.

Traffic control staff and “paid-duty” York Regional Police officers will be on site as necessary. Expect noise.

York Region Transit passengers riding buses operating along the 77 Highway 7 route should expect delays.
