More Davis Drive rapidway construction
starts August 26

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

During the next phase of the project, crews are widening Davis Drive. Starting Monday, August 26, they’ll be closing the entrance to the plaza at 200 Davis Drive during this work, so customers must drive into the parking lot from from Parkside Drive.

Widening the road at this point is an important step in re-aligning Parkside Drive on the south side of Davis to meet Longford Drive on the north side. It also makes room for two bus-only rapidway lanes on Davis.

Signs will be in place to direct motorists and a walkway will allow pedestrians to gain access from Davis Drive to the plaza.

The eastbound curb lane on Davis Drive remains closed as part of the long-term traffic shift to accommodate construction.

Passengers riding GO Transit express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit passengers riding buses operating along the 50 Queensway, 55 / 55B Davis Drive and 58 Mount Albert routes should expect delays.
