TTC detours, June 13



The City of Toronto is closing

  • Adelaide Street West from east of Bay Street — including the entire intersection of Bay and Adelaide West — to University Avenue,
  • University Avenue from Adelaide Street West to College Street and
  • Queen’s Park Crescent East and Queen’s Park, east side, from College Street to Charles Street West

tomorrow evening to accommodate the annual Scotiabank “Bay Street Rat Race”, raising funds to support the United Way.

The TTC is detouring several routes in downtown Toronto and the event may delay others, including: 5 Avenue Rd, 6 Bay, 94 Wellesley, 501 Queen, 505 Dundas, 506 Carlton and 509 Harbourfront.


5 Avenue Rd

From about 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Queen’s Park Crescent West and Hoskin Avenue, then detour:

westward along Hoskin to St. George Street,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park Crescent West beside Hart House and the University of Toronto library and
  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street.

Instead, southbound buses drop off passengers at temporary stops

  • on Hoskin Avenue beside Trinity College and at St. George Street.

Northbound buses start their trips on Hoskin Avenue at St. George Street, then proceed:

northward along St. George Street; and then
eastward along Bloor Street West to Queen’s Park / Avenue Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Avenue.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street, at Wellesley Street West and north of St. Joseph Street and
  • on Queen’s Park north of Charles Street West beside Museum Station.

Instead, northbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Hoskin Avenue at St. George Street.
6 Bay

From about 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Queen Street West, then detour:

eastward along Queen Streets West and East,
southward along Church Street; and then
westward along Wellington Streets East and West to Bay,
resuming their regular route southward along Bay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street south of Richmond Street West, at Adelaide Street West and south of King Street West.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and King Street West, then detour:

eastward along King West;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
westward along Richmond Street West to Bay,
resuming their regular route northward along Bay.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Bay Street north of Adelaide Street West.
506 Carlton

From about 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, expect delays as participants pass along University Avenue / Queen’s Park at College Street.

505 Dundas

From about 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, expect delays as participants pass along University Avenue at Dundas Street West.

509 Harbourfront

From about 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and King Street West, then detour:

eastward along King Street West to Yonge Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Yonge.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

501 Queen

From about 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, expect delays as participants pass along University Avenue at Queen Street West.

94 Wellesley

From about 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, eastbound buses operate along their regular route. Expect delays as participants pass along Queen’s Park Crescent East at Wellesley Street West.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Wellesley Street West and Bay Street, then detour:

northward along Bay;
westward along Bloor Street West; and then
southward along Queen’s Park to Queen’s Park Crescent,
resuming their regular route southward along Queen’s Park Crescent West.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Wellesley Street West at Queen’s Park Crescent East.
