The Region of York and the City of Markham are closing

  • Warden Avenue (Regional Road 67) between 16th Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive East

for a major construction project, starting Monday, June 3.

While the road is closed, contractors are widening Warden from two to four lanes, building three new bridges, installing curbs, storm sewers, concrete sidewalks, multi-use paths and street lights.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along the 68B Warden route and York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along the 418 Pierre Elliott Trudeau high school special route, while the road is closed.

Construction continues until December 31.

From Monday, June 3 until Tuesday, December 31, buses start their trips at Angus Glen Community Centre, then proceed:

eastward along Major Mackenzie Drive East;
southward along Kennedy Road; and then
westward along 16th Avenue to Warden Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Warden.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Warden Avenue south of Major Mackenzie Drive West, at Cachet Parkway [south], across from Glenbourne Park Drive, at Calvert Road and 16th Avenue.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Angus Glen Boulevard and Kennedy Road,
  • on Kennedy Road at Schoolhouse Road, The Fairways, Angus Glen Boulevard, across from Bur Oak Avenue and at 16th Avenue and
  • on 16th Avenue at Yorkton Boulevard, across from Normandale Road [east] and [west] and at Country Estates Drive.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Warden Avenue at Glenbourne Forest Way, Glenbourne Park Drive, Cachet Parkway [south] and 16th Avenue.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on 16th Avenue at Village Parkway, at Normandale Road [west] and [east] and across from Yorkton Boulevard,
  • on Kennedy Road at Bur Oak Avenue, across from Angus Glen Boulevard and at Castlemore Avenue and
  • on 16th Avenue across from Angus Glen Boulevard.

Monday-to-Friday school days, starting Monday, June 3, morning buses operate along their regular route to 16th Avenue and Warden Avenue, then detour:

eastward along 16th;
northward along Kennedy Road to Major Mackenzie Drive East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Major Mackenzie.

Morning buses skip their regular stops

  • on Warden Avenue at Glenbourne Forest Way, Glenbourne Park Drive, Cachet Parkway [south] and 16th Avenue and
  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Glenbourne Park Drive, across from Angus Glen Community Centre and at Angus Glen Boulevard and Kennedy Road.

Afternoon buses operate along their regular route to Bur Oak Avenue and Kennedy Road, then detour:

southward along Kennedy; and then
westward along Major Mackenzie Drive East to Warden Avenue,
resuming their regular route westward along Major Mackenzie East.

  • on Kennedy Road across from Angus Glen Boulevard and at Castlemore Avenue,
