Mississauga bus rapid transit project:
MiWay detours, starting June 3



Update — Saturday, November 15, 3:52 p.m.: Since construction is ongoing for the long term, MiWay is making the detours this section of Eglinton Avenue East for MiLocal buses operating along the 7 Airport and 87 Meadowvale - Skymark routes and MiExpress buses operating along the 109 Meadowvale route a permanent part of the bus-route network, starting Monday, November 17.


Update — Monday, April 14, 2014, 7:05 p.m.: MiWay again detours buses operating along the 7 Airport and 35 / 35A Eglinton routes off Buckhorn Gate Tuesdays from 6 until 10 p.m., starting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15 and continuing until August 26. The Buckhorn detour accommodates the Midweek Cycling Club’s Tuesday Criterium Series.


Update — Friday, July 12, 6:47 p.m.: MiWay detours MiExpress buses operating along the 109 Meadowvale route around the construction, starting Monday, July 15.


The project to build the Mississauga bus rapid transit line enters its next phase, starting Monday, June 3. Contractors may block lanes and restrict traffic on Eglinton Avenue East between Eastgate Parkway / Creekbank Road and Spectrum Way.

MiWay is detouring MiLocal buses operating along the 7 Airport, 35 / 35A Eglinton and 87 Meadowvale - Skymark routes to help keep them on schedule and allow passengers to board and exit, while construction continues on Eglinton Avenue.

The detours likely continue until late 2014 until further notice.


7 Airport
35 / 35A Eglinton

Seven days a week, except Monday and Tuesday evenings from about 6 until 10 p.m., starting Monday, June 3, and seven days a week, starting Wednesday, August 28, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Eglinton Avenue West and Creekbank Road / Eastgate Parkway, then detour:

southward along Eastgate;
eastward along Tahoe Boulevard;
north- and eastward along Buckhorn Gate; and then
northward along Tahoe to Eglinton East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Eglinton.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Eglinton Avenue East at Eastgate Parkway and Tahoe Boulevard.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Eastgate Parkway south of Eglinton Avenue East,
  • on Tahoe Boulevard east of Eastgate Parkway,
  • on Buckhorn Gate north of Tahoe Boulevard and
  • on Tahoe Boulevard south of Eglinton Avenue East.

Westbound buses reverse the daily eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Eglinton Avenue East across from Tahoe Boulevard and at Creekbank Road.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Tahoe Boulevard south of Eglinton Avenue West and at Buckhorn Gate,
  • on Buckhorn Gate west of Tahoe Boulevard and
  • on Tahoe Boulevard east of Eastgate Parkway.

Mondays and Tuesday from about 6 until 10 p.m. from Monday, June 3 until Tuesday, August 27, MiWay revises the eastbound detour routing during the Midweek Cycling Club’s evening criterium series.

Monday-and-Tuesday evenings, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Eglinton Avenue West and Creekbank Road / Eastgate Parkway, then detour:

southward along Eastgate;
east-, south- and northward along Tahoe Boulevard to Eglinton East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Eglinton.

  • on Eglinton Avenue East at Eastgate Parkway and Tahoe Boulevard.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Eastgate Parkway south of Eglinton Avenue East,

109 Meadowvale express

Starting Monday, July 15, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Eastgate Parkway and Tahoe Boulevard, then detour:

eastward along Tahoe Boulevard;
northeastward along Buckhorn Gate; and then
northward along Tahoe to Eglinton Avenue East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Eglinton East.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Eastgate Parkway north of Tahoe Boulevard [west] and on Eglinton Avenue East at Tahoe Boulevard [east].

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Tahoe Boulevard east of Eastgate Parkway and at Eglinton Avenue East.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Eglinton Avenue East across from Tahoe Boulevard [east] and

Starting Monday, June 3, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Eglinton Avenue West and Creekbank Road / Eastgate Parkway, then detour:

southward along Eastgate;
eastward along Tahoe Boulevard;
north- and eastward along Buckhorn Gate; and then
northward along Tahoe to Eglinton East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Eglinton.
