More Davis Drive rapidway construction,
May 7 to 31

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

Starting Tuesday, May 7 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day, contractors start installing temporary traffic signals at Davis Drive and Roxborough Road / Patterson Street. They’ll occasionally close all the lanes on both Roxborough and Davis to accommodate the work. Crews will mainly be working from the boulevards and closed traffic lanes closures around the intersection.

If the work affects bus stops and sidewalks, directional signs will guide passengers and pedestrians to the nearest available bus stop or sidewalk. A “paid-duty” York Regional Police officer will be on site to direct traffic.

Work continues for about four weeks, or until May 31.

GO Transit passengers riding express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit passengers riding local buses operating along the 50 Queensway, 54 Bayview, 55 / 55B Davis Drive, 58 Mt Albert and 520 / 521 Newmarket community bus routes should expect detours or delays.
