MiWay revises services, May 6



Fewer passengers are traveling to and from the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus and Humber College’s North Campus, so MiWay is decreasing services to and from those post-secondary institutions. It’s also making other minor changes to its services, starting tomorrow, Monday, May 6.


MiWay is revising service along these MiLocal routes: 4 Sherway Gardens, 5 Dixie, 7 Airport, 13 Glen Erin, 16 Malton, 19 Hurontario, 20 Rathburn, 22 Finch, 23 Lakeshore, 24 Northwest, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 29 Park Royal, 45 Winston Churchill, 61A Mavis, 66 McLaughlin, 87 Meadowvale - Skymark, 88 Wonderland, 312 Streetsville Secondary - Meadowvale high school special, 317 Clarkson Secondary - Erindale high school special, 318 Cawthra Secondary - City Centre high school special.

It’s also revising service along these MiExpress routes: 107 Malton express; 110 University express.


Specifically MiWay is: increasing service along a current route; decreasing service along current routes; decreasing the frequency of service along current routes; resuming service along seasonal routes; revising service to and from high schools; adjusting the schedules of current routes; and making other changes to service along current routes.


Increasing service along a current route


22 Finch

Starting Sunday, May 12, MiWay operates buses on new east- and westbound trips along the route late Sunday-and-holiday evenings.

The bus serving the new eastbound trip leaves Westwood Mall terminal at 9:51 p.m. Sundays and holidays. It ends its trip on Humber College Boulevard across from Westmore Drive — beside William Osler Health Service’s Etobicoke General campus — at 10:06 p.m. The bus serving the new westbound trip leaves William Osler Health Services at 10:06 p.m. It ends its trip in Westwood Terminal at 10:21 p.m.

110 University express

Friday, May 3 was the last day until September that MiWay operated short-turn trips to and from the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus before 10 a.m. or after 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the entire route every 15 minutes Mondays to Fridays during rush hours, instead of every 7 to 8 minutes east of U of T Mississauga.

Buses continue to serve stops every 17 minutes east of U of T and every 34 minutes west of U of T Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They continue to serve stops along the entire route every 26 minutes after 7 p.m.

MiWay is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

110 University express

Starting Saturday, May 18, MiWay resumes express bus service between City Centre Terminal and Wonderland Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only until July. Starting Canada Day, Monday, July 1, buses start operating seven days a week.

Southbound buses leave Wonderland terminal at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 8:45, 10 and 10:15 p.m. Northbound buses leave City Centre terminal at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 8 and 9:30 p.m.

Sundays, May 19 and June 16, 23 and 30

Southbound buses leave Wonderland terminal at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 6:45, 8:15 and 8:20 p.m. Northbound buses leave the City Centre at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Sundays, May 26 and June 2 and 9

Southbound buses leave Wonderland terminal at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 6:45 and 8:15 p.m. Northbound buses leave the City Centre at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Victoria Day, Monday, May 20

Southbound buses leave Wonderland terminal at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 6:45, 8:15 and 10:15 p.m. Northbound buses leave the City Centre at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

318 Cawthra Secondary - City Centre high school special

Construction has ended, so, starting Monday, May 6, westboundbuses resume dropping off or picking up passengers at stop #1569 on Burnhamthorpe Road East just east of Hurontario Street.

317 Clarkson Secondary - Erindale high school special

Starting Monday, May 6, MiWay relocates stops #s 0120 and 0123 closer to the intersection of Truscott Road and Lewisham Drive. Moving the stops improves passenger safety, since it encourages them to cross Truscott Drive at the signal.

312 Streetsville Secondary - Meadowvale high school special

Construction has ended, so, starting Monday, May 6, westboundbuses resume dropping off or picking up passengers at stop #1569 on Burnhamthorpe Road East just east of Hurontario Street.


Adjusting the schedules of current routes


7 Airport

Starting Sunday, May 12, the southbound bus that usually leaves Westwood Mall terminal at 10:36 p.m. Sundays and holidays leaves six minutes later at 10:42 p.m. The later trip provides more time for passengers boarding the bus at Toronto Pearson Airport’s Terminal 1.

5 Dixie

Starting Monday, May 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 24 minutes, instead of every 26 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

13 Glen Erin

Starting Monday, May 6, the northbound bus that usually leaves Clarkson GO Station at 7:28 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes later at 7:30 a.m. The later trip improves service for passengers connecting at Clarkson GO Station with GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

19 Hurontario

Starting Sunday, May 12, the northbound bus that usually leaves Port Credit GO Station at 11:40 p.m. Sundays and holidays, leaves, instead, five minutes later at 11:45 p.m. The later trip improves service for passengers transferring to the bus at Port Credit GO Station from GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

16 Malton

Starting Monday, May 6, the southbound bus that usually leaves Westwood Mall terminal at 5:35 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, six minutes earlier at 5:29 a.m. The earlier trip allows enough time in the schedule for buses to return to Westwood at 5:52 a.m., improving service for passengers connecting with the first southbound bus operating laong the 24 Northwest route. That bus leaves Westwood at 5:54 a.m.

24 Northwest

Starting Monday, May 6, the southbound bus that usually leaves Westwood Mall at 7:22 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes earlier at 7:20 a.m. The bus serves stops along the route earlier than usually, ending its trip in Skymark Hub at 7:55 a.m. The earlier trip improves service for passengers connecting with other MiWay buses.

29 Park Royal

Starting Monday, May 6, the northbound bus that usually leaves Clarkson GO Station at 5:10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes later at 5:12 p.m. The bus serves stops along the route later than usually, ending its trip in Erin Mills Town Centre terminal at 5:53 p.m. The later trip improves service for passengers connecting at Clarkson GO Station with GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

MiWay is also making other changes to service along the route.

20 Rathburn

Starting Monday, May 6, the eastbound bus that usually leaves Rathburn Road East east of Dixie Road at 8:01 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes earlier at 7:59 a.m. The earlier trip improves service for passengers connecting with buses operating along the 5 Dixie route.

110 University express

Starting Monday, May 6, the southbound bus that usually leaves City Centre Terminal at 6:24 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes earlier at 6:24 a.m. The bus serves stops along the route earlier than usually, ending its trip in Clarkson GO Station bus terminal at 6:59 a.m. The earlier trip improves service for passengers connecting at Clarkson GO Station with the eastbound GO Transit train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line that leaves Clarkson at 7:03 a.m.

The northbound buses that usually leave Clarkson GO Station at 8:24 and 10:10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leave, instead, at 8:26 and 10:10 a.m. The earlier trips improve service for passengers connecting at Clarkson GO Station with GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line.

45 Winston Churchill

Starting Monday, May 6, the southbound buses that usually leave Meadowvale Town Centre terminal at 6:18 and 8:01 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leave, instead, at 6:15 and 7:56 a.m. The northbound buses that usually leave Clarkson GO Station at 5:39 and 7:13 a.m. and 2:14, 3:21, 5:49, 6:18 and 7:07 p.m. leave, instead at 5:36 and 7:08 a.m. and 2:17, 3:19, 5:52, 6:21 and 7:10 pm, respectively.

By adjusting the schedules, MiWay is improving service for passengers connecting at Clarkson Go Station with GO Transit trains operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line

Starting Monday, May 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers on Lakeshore Road at Shaw Drive eight metres west of the usual stop. You’ll find the new location for stop #0358 is beside a wooden power pole on Lakeshore Road.

61A Mavis

Starting Monday, May 6, southbound buses pick up and drop off passengers at new stop #6609 on the west side of McLaughlin Road south between Kingknoll Drive and Ray Lawson Boulevard. Buses operating along Brampton Transit’s 53 Oaklea route already serve the stop.

66 McLaughlin

Starting Monday, May 6, southbound buses pick up and drop off passengers at new stop #6609 on the west side of McLaughlin Road south between Kingknoll Drive and Ray Lawson Boulevard. Buses operating along Brampton Transit’s 53 Oaklea route also serve the stop.

Also starting Monday, May 6, buses serve stop #0006 on platform L of the City City Centre Terminal, instead of stop #0086 at platform M. Both stops are on the south side of Rathburn Road West west of the main entrance to the terminal.

87 Meadowvale - Skymark

Starting Monday, May 6, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stop #1615 on Eglinton Avenue East west of Highwary 403. Buses operating along the 7 Airport and 35 / 35A Eglinton routes already serve the stop.

29 / 29A Park Royal

Starting Monday, May 6, MiWay relocates stops #s 0120 and 0123 closer to the intersection of Truscott Road and Lewisham Drive. Moving the stops improves passenger safety, since it encourages them to cross Truscott Drive at the signal.

4 Sherway Gardens

Starting Monday, May 6, westbound buses pick up passengers at the TTC stop on The West Mall just south of The Queensway, instead of further south along The West Mall. (TTC buses operating along the 80 Queensway and 123 Shorncliffe routes already serve this stop.)

MiWay is moving stop #9060 further north along the street so that passengers can take advantage of the transit shelter that protects passengers while waiting for buses at that stop.

312 Streetsville Secondary - Meadowvale high school special

Construction has ended, so, starting Monday, May 6, westboundbuses resume dropping off or picking up passengers at stop #1569 on Burnhamthorpe Road East just east of Hurontario Street.
