Starting today, Wednesday, April 24, contractors are getting ready to again shift traffic from one side of the roadway to the other on Davis Drive between Lorne Avenue and Parkside Drive, reducing traffic to one lane in each direction. Left-turn lanes at intersections with signals remain and, in most cases, a centre lane for emergencies and left turns also remains throughout this section of the roadway.
To prepare for reducing the lanes, contractors were working from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 24 and continue between the same hours tomorrow, Thursday, April 25 to paint lines on the road.
They’ll maintain one sidewalk on Davis Drive at all times and crosswalks will remain open.
If the work affects bus stops and sidewalks, directional signs guide transit passengers and pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop or sidewalk.
Businesses are open during construction and the contractors are maintaining access to driveways will be maintained.
Construction — and the lane shift — continue until the end of the project.
Other work on the project continues to reduce traffic lanes on Davis Drive at the Keith Bridge between Superior Street and Prospect Street to just three lanes — two eastbound and one westbound.
The next segment where contractors will shift the traffic shift takes place later this spring, between Roxborough Road and Prospect Street.
GO Transit passengers riding express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit passengers riding local buses operating along the 44 Woodspring - Bristol, 50 Queensway, 55 / 55B Davis Drive and 58 Mt Albert routes should expect detours or delays.
