Getting ready for Highway 7 West rapidway construction,
April 23 to May 7

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue to prepare for building a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West from west of Jane Street to east of Keele Street.

This week, crews continue “pre-construction” work by surveying, tagging certain trees and removing signs at various boulevard sites between Jane Street and Bowes Road — east of Keele Street. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14, they’ll be working from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day, returning to each work zone intermittently over the next two weeks.

The workers may temporarily block east- and westbound curb lanes from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day, as crews move along the corridor. Wherever possible, sidewalks will remain open. If the work closes a sidewalk, directional signage will guide pedestrians to the nearest available walkway.

Expect noise.

Work continues until May 23.

Passengers riding York Region Transit buses operating along the 77 Highway 7 / Centre route should expect delays.
