Davis Drive rapidway project blocks lanes at Keith Bridge,
March 24

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

As part of the project, contractors are working on the utilities along Davis Drive from the Keith Bridge to east of the Taylor Funeral Home, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. today, Sunday, March 24.

Newmarket Hydro crews are working on the east side of Keith Bridge on both the north and south sides to string wire and hang transformers. They’ll reduce the south side of the bridge to just one eastbound and one westbound lane. A “paid-duty” York Regional Police officer is on site to direct traffic.

The work also temporarily blocks the exit and entrance to and from the Tom Taylor trail at the Seniors Centre from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Passengers riding York Region Transit buses operating along the 50 Queensway, 55 / 55B Davis Drive and 520 Newmarket community bus routes should expect delays.
