This week, contractors start work on two more parts of the project.
First, starting Tuesday, March 12 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day, contractors are locating underground utilities by digging potholes with a “hydrovac” truck — truck-mounted vacuum. Expect noise around work areas.
The crews will close the curb lanes at various points from west of Yonge Street to Parkside Drive. More crews will work on the boulevards near the intersections of Davis with Roxborough Road and Charles Street.
If the work affects bus stops or sidewalks, directional signs will guide passengers and pedestrians to the nearest available bus stop or sidewalk. The work will not block access to any businesses. If necessary, a York Regional Police “paid-duty” officer will be on the site to direct traffic and pedestrians.
The work continues until March 19.
Second, starting Wednesday, March 13 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day, contractors will be repairing two catch basins:
- in the eastbound curb lane between the Canadian National Railway / GO Transit tracks and the Tannery; and
- In the eastbound curb lane near Southlake Regional Health Centre’s Davis Drive entrance.
The work will not affect bus stops. If it affects sidewalks, directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open sidewalk. If necessary, a York Regional Police “paid-duty” officer will be on the site to direct traffic and pedestrians.
The work continues until March 15.
GO Transit passengers riding express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit buses operating along the 44 Woodspring - Bristol, 50 Queensway, 54 Bayview, 55 / 55B Davis Drive 58A Leslie via Mount Albert and 520 / 521 Newmarket community bus routes should expect delays.
