Getting ready to tunnel:
Boring machines for Eglinton Crosstown start arriving

Metrolinx hasn’t officially announced the information on its website or elsewhere, but the Toronto Star’s transportation writer, Tess Kalinowski recently reported that Metrolinx has received the first of four giant tunnel-boring machines at the tunnel launch site near Eglinton Avenue West and Black Creek Drive.

The supplier, Caterpillar Tunneling (formerly LOVAT) will deliver the machines in 13 shipments and crews will assemble the machines at the Black Creek site. (LOVAT produced the four machines that have dug — and are still digging — the tunnels to extend the TTC’s 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway beyond Downsview.)
