Davis Drive rapidway construction blocks more lanes,
starting March 4

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

This week, contractors start work on two more parts of the project.

First, a crew will be installing traffic signals at the intersections of Davis with George Street and Barbara Road. From 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5, they’ll be temporarily blocking lanes around the two intersections.

Second, another crew will be relocating telecommunications lines along Davis from Parkside Drive to Yonge Street. They’ll temporarily block eastbound curb lanes in the area from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., starting Monday, March 4. Work continues until March 8.

If the work affects bus stops and sidewalks, directional signs will guide passengers and pedestrians to the nearest available bus stop or sidewalk. If necessary, a flag person will be on site to direct you.

GO Transit passengers riding express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit buses operating along the 50 Queensway, 55 Davis Drive and 58A Leslie via Mount Albert routes should expect delays.
