TTC detours streetcars during track repairs, crane lift,
February 23 to 25



Starting 6 a.m., Saturday, February 23 until 5 a.m., Monday, February 25, TTC crews will repair the street car tracks at the intersection of Dundas Street East and Victoria Street.

During the same weekend, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Dundas Street West between Bay and Yonge Streets,

while contractors lift a crane into position at a construction site.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 505 Dundas route to accommodate the work.

It’s also operating shuttle buses between Chestnut Street and Broadview Station to replace the cars.


505 Dundas

From 6 a.m. Saturday, February 23 until 5 a.m. Monday, February 25, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Dundas Street West and Bay Street, then detour:

northward along Bay;
eastward along College and Carlton Streets; and then
southward along Church Street to Dundas Street East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Dundas East.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Dundas Street West at Yonge Street and
  • on Dundas Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Bay Street at Elm Street, Gerrard Street West and College Street,
  • on College Street at Yonge Street,
  • on Carlton Street at Church Street and
  • on Church Street at Gerrard Street East, Gould Street and Dundas Street East.

Westbound cars reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Dundas Street East at Victoria and Church Streets and
  • on Dundas Street West at Bay Street.

Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Church Street at Gould Street, Gerrard Street East and Carlton Street and
  • on Carlton Street at Yonge Street,
  • on College Street at Bay Street and
  • on Bay Street at Gerrard Street West, Elm Street and Dundas Street West.
505 Dundas shuttle bus

From 6 a.m. Saturday, February 23 until 5 a.m. Monday, February 25, eastbound buses start their trips on Dundas Street West at Chestnut Street, then proceed:

eastward along Dundas Streets West and East;
northward along Broadview Avenue; and then
eastward into Broadview Station terminal,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Dundas Street West at Chestnut, Bay and Yonge Streets,
  • on Dundas Street East at Victoria Street, Bond Street (Sunday only), Church, Jarvis, Sherbourne, Ontario and Parliament Streets, east of Regent Street (Sunday only), at Sackville, Sumach, River and Munro Street and Broadview Avenue,
  • on Broadview Avenue across from Mount Stephen Street, at Gerrard Street East, Simpson Avenue (Sunday only), Langley and Withrow Avenues, Bain Avenue (Sunday only), Millbrook Crescent and Wolfrey and Danforth Avenues and
  • in Broadview Station terminal.

Westbound buses start their trips in Broadview Station terminal, then proceed:

westward along Erindale Avenue;
southward along Broadview Avenue; and then
westward along Dundas Streets East and West to Chestnut Street,
ending their trips.

(Although the TTC has not confirmed the exact west-end looping on previous occasions when it has operated shuttle buses ending at Dundas West and Chestnut, the buses have looped:

southward along Chestnut;
westward along Armoury Street;
northward along University Avenue; and then
eastward along Dundas West to Chestnut.)

Westbound buses drop or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Broadview Station terminal,
  • on Erindale Avenue at Broadview Avenue,
  • on Broadview Avenue at Danforth Avenue, across from Wolfrey Avenue and Millbrook Crescent, across from Bain Avenue (Sunday only), across from Withrow and Langley Avenues, at Don Jail Roadway, Gerrard Street East, Mount Stephen Street and Dundas Street East,
  • on Dundas Street East at Munro, River, Sumach and Sackville Streets, across from Regent Street, at Parliament, Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis and Church Streets, at Bond Street (Sunday only) and Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Dundas Street West at Bay and Chestnut Streets.

(The buses likely also stop on University Avenue south of Dundas Street West for passengers transfering to or from subway trains operating along the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina line at St. Patrick Station.)
