Davis Drive rapidway construction blocks more lanes,
February 4 to 7

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

Starting Monday, February 4 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day, crews are temporarily closing traffic lanes at various sites along Davis Drive to work on the utilities and to install temporary traffic signals. Work continues until February 7.

They’re:

  • closing eastbound curb lanes in a series of rolling closures between Yonge Street and Parkside Drive;
  • closing westbound curb lanes on both sides of George Street; and
  • closing westbound curb lanes closure on both sides of Barbara Road.

Although the work does not affect bus stops, GO Transit passengers riding express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and York Region Transit buses operating along the 50 Queensway, 55 Davis Drive, 58A Leslie via Mount Albert and 520 / 521 Newmarket community bus routes should expect delays.
