"Early homebound" rush-hour service, December 31



New Year’s Eve, this Monday, December 31, many people will likely knock off work early to get a head start on the holidays — or to get ready for a night of ringing in the new year.

GO Transit and other transit agencies are responding by starting afternoon rush-hour service earlier in the day — around noon. (Unofficially, the TTC does this too.) GO’s “early homebound” rush-hour service, in turn, requires local transit agencies including MiWay, York Region Transit, Brampton Transit and Oakville Transit to revise the schedules of buses that usually meet GO trains to take passengers into residential neighbourhoods.

Buses operate with revised schedules in the afternoon to meet all trains on GO Transit’s 31 Georgetown line at Bramalea Station. (GO is operating earlier trains that arrive in Bramalea at 2:06 and 3:06 p.m. It’s cancelling the trains that usually arrive in Bramalea at 5:49, 6:19 and 7:19 p.m. All other trains operate on their regular schedule).

Brampton Transit is also decreasing rush-hour service along several routes throughout the holiday season.


GO Transit

65 Barrie trains and buses

Trains

GO operates a late southbound and earlier northbound trains along the line.

The late southbound train leaves Allandale Waterfront GO Station at 8 p.m. It serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Union Station at 8:41 p.m.

Early trains leave Union at 12:40 and 1:40 p.m. The trains serve all stations along the line until Allandale Waterfront, ending their trips at 2:23 and 3:23 p.m.

Another early train leaves Union at 2:40 p.m. The train serves all stations until East Gwillimbury GO Station, ending its trip at 3:43 p.m.

GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:40 and 5:35 p.m. (The trains usually end their trips in Allandale at 6:23 and 7:18 p.m.

To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 65 route or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 63 King City / Toronto and [68] Barrie / Newmarket routes.

Buses

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling many northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon.

GO is canceling the southbound bus that usually leaves East Gwillimbury GO Station at 7 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 9:10 p.m.)

It’s also canceling the northbound local buses that usually leave Union at 12:10, 12:40, 1:10, 1:40, 2:10, 2:40 and 3:10 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in East Gwillimbury at 1:25, 1:55, 2:25, 2:55, 3:25, 4 and 4:40 p.m.)

It’s canceling the northbound buses that usually leave Union at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 2:25, 3:25 and 4:40 p.m.)

GO is operating earlier northbound trains that arrive in Bradford GO Station at 1:51 and 2:51 p.m.

To accommodate passengers connecting with the earlier trains, GO is revising the schedule for the buses that usually leave Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 1:20 and 2:20 p.m. The buses arrive in Bradford GO Station bus terminal to pick up train passengers at 1:55 and 2:55 p.m. and end their trips in Downtown Barrie Terminal at 2:47 and 3:47 p.m.

GO is operating another early train that ends its trip in East Gwillimbury GO Station at 3:43 p.m. To accommodate passengers connecting with this train, GO revises the schedule for the bus that usually leaves Newmarket at 3:35 p.m. It arrives in East Gwillimbury at 3:45 p.m. to pick up train passengers and ends its trip in Barrie at 5 p.m.

38 Bolton / Malton / North York

GO is operating an early westbound train along the 31 Kitchener line that arrives in Etobicoke North GO Station at 2:12 p.m.

To accommodate passengers connecting with the early train, GO operates an early bus. The bus leaves York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 1:45 p.m. It arrives in Etobicoke North GO Station bus terminal at 2:15 p.m. It ends its trip on Albion - Vaughan Road north of Industrial Road at 3:25 p.m.

GO has canceled the westbound train operating along the 31 Kitchener line that usually arrives in Etobicoke North at 4:37 p.m. However, GO will still operate the regular westbound bus that usually connects with this train. The bus leaves York Mills at 4:10 p.m., arrives in Etobicoke North at 4:40 p.m. and ends its trip in Bolton at 5:50 p.m.

GO is operating extra eastbound buses along the route. (The buses leave at the same time as the extra eastbound buses GO usually operates Fridays only.)

The buses leave the Hamilton GO Centre at 1:15, 1:45, 2:15, 2:45, 3:15, 3:45, 4:15, 4:45, 5:15, 5:45, 6:15 and 6:45 p.m. They end their trips in Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 2:40, 3:10, 3:40, 4:10, 4:40, 5:10, 5:40, 6:10, 6:40, 7:10 and 7:50 p.m.

67 Keswick / North York

GO is operating an early northbound bus along the route. The bus leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 1:08 p.m. It serves all stops along the route and ends its trip in the Glenwoods Park ‘n’ Ride carpool lot in Keswick at 2:13 p.m.

It’s also canceling the bus that usually leaves Finch at 5:38 p.m. (It usually arrives in Keswick at 6:58 p.m.)

63 King City / Toronto

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Vaughan and King City to travel aboard earlier trains along the 61 Barrie line, it’s cancelling all northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal that usually operate along this route in the early afternoon.

Specifically, it’s cancelling the buses that usually leave Union at 12:20, 1:20, 2:20, 2:50 and 3:30 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips on Keele Street across from Station Street near the King City GO Station at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:05 and 5 p.m.)

31 Kitchener trains and buses

Trains

GO operates a later eastbound and earlier westbound trains along the line.

The late eastbound train leaves Mount Pleasant GO Station at 8:40 p.m., serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Union Station at 9:32 p.m.

An early westbound train leaves Union Station at 12:15 p.m. It serves all stations along the line until Bramalea GO Station, ending its trip at 12:51 p.m.

Two more early westbound trains leave Union at 1:50 and 2:45 p.m. They serve all stations along the line until Georgetown GO Station, ending their trips at 2:52 and 3:47 p.m.

GO has cancelled the trains that usually leave Union at 4:15 and 5:15 p.m. (They usually serve all stations along the line and end their trips in Georgetown at 5:18 and 6:18 p.m.)

To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 31 route or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 30 Kitchener / Bramalea, 37 Orangeville / Brampton and 38 Bolton / North York and 39 Guelph / Bramalea routes.

Buses

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Brampton and Georgetown to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling many westbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon. It’s also canceling eastbound buses leaving Brampton and Bramalea GO Stations in the early evening.

31A branch

It’s cancelling the westbound bus that usually leaves Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 11:50 a.m. Instead, it’s operating the bus on a shorter trip from Downtown Brampton Terminal. The bus leaves Brampton at 12:35 p.m., as usual, serves all stops along the route and ends its trip in the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus at its usual time of 2:15 p.m.

It’s also cancelling the bus that usually leaves Union at 12:50 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in the University Centre at 3:15 p.m.)

31F branch

It’s canceling the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 2:05, 2:30 and 8:25 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Georgetown GO Station bus terminal at 3:15, 3:25 and 9:35 p.m.)

The bus that usually leaves Union at 8:05 p.m. leaves, instead, ten minutes later at 8:15 p.m. The bus serves all stops along this branch of the route about ten minutes later than usual and ends its trip in Georgetown at 9:25 p.m.

31J branch

It’s canceling the eastbound bus that usually leaves Downtown Brampton Terminal at 8:35 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Union Station GO Bus terminal at 9:20 p.m.)

It’s also canceling the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 11:20 a.m. and 12:20, 1:20 and 2:20 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Downtown Brampton Terminal at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m.)

The westbound express bus that usually leaves Union at 7:55 p.m. leaves, instead, five minutes earlier at 7:50 p.m. It ends its trip in Bramalea at 8:25 p.m.

The express buses that usually leave Union at 8:10 and 9:15 p.m. leave, instead, ten minutes later at 8:15 and 9:25 p.m. They end their trips in Bramalea at 8:55 and 10 p.m.

GO is canceling the bus that usually leaves Union at 9:35 p.m. (It usually ends its trip in Bramalea at 10:10 p.m.)

It’s canceling the westbound bus that usually leaves Union at 1:40 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip on Main Street South at James Street in downtown Georgetown at 3:05 p.m.)

GO is operating extra westbound buses along this temporary branch of the route so that passengers riding the early train that arrives in Bramalea GO Station at 12:51 p.m. can continue their trips further westward.

Buses leave Bramalea at 1, 1:05 and 1:10 p.m. The 1 p.m. bus serves all stops to Mount Pleasant GO Station, ending its trip at 1:42 p.m. The 1:05 p.m. bus serves all stops to Georgetown GO Station, ending its trip at 2:05 p.m. The 1:10 p.m. bus serves all stops to the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus, ending its trip at 3:15 p.m.

GO is operating an early westbound train along the 31 Kitchener line that arrives in Bramalea GO Station at 2:26 p.m. It’s also operating an early westbound bus that leaves Bramlea at 3:35 p.m., ending its trip in the Charles Street Terminal in downtown Kitchener at 3:50 p.m.

09 Lakeshore East

GO is operating early eastbound trains along the line.

Early trains leave Union Station at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. The trains operate express - without stopping - to Rouge Hill GO Station, then serve all other stations along the line, ending their trips in Oshawa GO Station at 1:21, 2:21 and 3:21 p.m.

Another early train leaves Union at 1:50 p.m., serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Pickering GO Station at 2:28 p.m.

GO is revising the schedule for the train that usually leaves Union at 5:20 p.m. Instead of operating partially express - skipping Eglinton, Guildwood and Rouge Hill GO Stations — it serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Oshawa at 6:21 p.m.

GO is operating early buses along the 90 Newcastle / Oshawa route to meet the early trains that arrive in Oshawa at 1:21, 2:21 and 3:21 p.m. It’s operating an extra bus along the 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express route to meet the train that arrives in Oshawa at 6:21 p.m.

GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:25, 4:53 and 5:35 p.m. (The 4:25 and 4:53 p.m. trains usually end their trips in Oshawa at 5:12 and 5:40 p.m. The 5:35 p.m. train usually ends its trip in Pickering at 6:16 p.m.) GO is also canceling the eastbound buses operating along the 90 Newcastle / Oshawa local and 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express routes that usually meet those trains in Oshawa.

GO is also revising the schedules of buses that operate along the 81 Port Perry / Whitby, 88 Peterborough / Oshawa, 90 Newcastle / Oshawa local and 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express routes to meet early trains operating along the line at Whitby and Oshawa GO Stations.

18 Lakeshore West bus

GO is operating an early westbound train along the 01 Lakeshore West that arrives in Aldershot GO Station at 5:18 p.m. It’s also operating an extra westbound bus that leaves Aldershot at 5:25 p.m., ending its trip in the Hamilton GO Centre at 5:45 p.m.

GO has canceled the westbound train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line that usually arrives in Aldershot at 8:18 p.m. It’s also canceling the bus that usually leaves Aldershot GO Station bus terminal at 8:25 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in the Hamilton GO Centre at 8:40 p.m.

GO has canceled the westbound train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line that usually arrives in Burlington at 4:58 p.m. It’s also canceling the bus that usually leaves Burlington GO Station bus terminal at 5:04 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in the Hamilton GO Centre at 5:34 p.m.)

01 Lakeshore West train

GO operates earlier westbound trains along the line.

Early trains leave Union Station at 12:20, 1:20 and 2:20 p.m., operate express - without stopping - until Clarkson GO Station, then serve all stops until Hamilton. The trains arrive in the Hamilton GO Centre at 1:32, 2:32 and 3:32 p.m.

Another early train leaves Union at 2:13 p.m. The train serves all stops until Burlington GO Station, ending its trip at 3:12 p.m.

GO is extending the trip of the train that usually leaves Union at 4:13 p.m. Instead of ending its trip in Oakville GO Station, the train serves all stops until Aldershot GO Station, arriving at 5:18 p.m. A bus operating along the 18 Lakeshore West route connects with the train in Aldershot to carry passengers further westward. A bus operating along the 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington route meets the train at Burlington GO Station to carry passengers towards Niagara Region.

GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:10, 4:30, 6:35 and 7:13 p.m. It’s also cancelling buses operating along the 15 McMaster and 18 Lakeshore West routes that usually connect with the 4:10 and 7:13 trains in Burlington or Aldershot.

21 Milton train and bus

Trains

GO operates earlier westbound trains and a later eastbound train along the line.

The later eastbound train leaves Milton GO Station at 8:40 p.m. It serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Union Station at 9:39 p.m.

Early westbound trains leave Union at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. They serve all stations along the line, ending their trips in Milton at 1:28, 2:28, 3:28 and 4:28 p.m.

GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4, 4:50, 5:25 and 6:15 p.m. (The trains usually end their trips in Milton at 4:58, 5:48, 6:23 and 7:13 p.m.)

To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 21 route, or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 25 Waterloo / Mississauga route to maintain service for passengers traveling further westward.

Buses

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Mississauga and Milton to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling most westbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon. It’s also revising the schedule for mid-evening eastbound buses.

21B branch

It’s cancelling the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 12:30, 1, 1:30, 1:50, 2:10, 2:30, 2:45, 3, 3:15 and 3:25 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Milton GO Station bus terminal at 1:35, 2:05, 2:40, 3, 3:20, 3:40, 4, 4:20, 4:40 and 4:50 p.m.)

It’s also adjusting the schedule so that the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 8:20 and 9:20 p.m. leave ten minutes later than usual at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. The buses serve all stops along this branch of the route, ending their trips in Milton at 9:40 and 10:35 p.m.

It’s canceling the westbound bus that usually leaves Union at 9:40 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Milton at 10:45 p.m.)

21D branch

It’s cancelling the westbound local buses that usually leave Union at 11:50, 12:20, 12:50, 1:20, 1:40, 2, 2:20, 2:40, 2:55 and 3:25 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Lisgar GO Station bus terminal at 12:50, 1:20, 1:50, 2:20, 2:40, 3:05, 3:25, 3:50, 4:10 and 4:45 p.m.)

It’s also adjusting the schedule so that the westbound bus that usually leaves Union at 9:10 p.m. leaves ten minutes later than usual at 9:20 p.m. The bus serves all stops along this branch of the route, ending its trips in Lisgar terminal at 10:20 p.m.

It’s canceling the westbound bus that usually leaves Union at 9:30 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Lisgar at 10:30 p.m.)

21E branch

It’s cancelling the westbound express buses that usually leave Union at 3:05 and 3:20 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Lisgar GO Station bus terminal at 4:15 and 4:30 p.m.)

21G branch

It’s canceling the westbound express bus that usually leaves Union at 3:10 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Erindale GO Station bus terminal at 3:55 p.m.)

21H branch

It’s canceling the eastbound local bus that usually leaves Square One GO Bus terminal at 8:55 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 9:40 p.m.) An express bus operating along the 21K branch replaces this bus.

It’s cancelling the westbound local buses that usually leave Union at 11:50 a.m. and 12:20, 12:50, 1:20, 1:50, 2:10, 2:30, 2:50, 3:05 and 3:25 p.m. (The buses skip Dixie GO Station and usually end their trips in Square One terminal at 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2:05, 2:40, 3, 3:20, 3:45, 4:05 and 4:25 p.m.)

Express buses operating along the temporary 21S branch partly replace this service.

21J branch

It’s canceling the westbound local buses that usually leave Union at 3:10, 3:20 and 7:20 p.m. (The buses serve Dixie GO Station and usually end their trips in Square One terminal at 4, 4:10 and 8 p.m.)

21K branch

GO is operating two extra eastbound buses along this branch of the route. The buses leave Square One at 8:55 and 9:25 p.m. They operate express - without stopping - until Union Station bus terminal, ending their trips at 9:25 and 9:55 p.m.

21S branch

GO is operating buses along this temporary express branch of the route to support the early train service and to replace local bus service along the 21H and 21J branches of the route. Buses operate between Union Station and Square One GO Bus Terminals without stopping.

The buses leave Union at 11:50 a.m. and 12:20, 12:50, 1:20, 1:50, 2:20, 2:50, 3:10 and 3:25 p.m. They end their trips in Square One Terminal at 12:20, 12:50, 1:20, 1:50, 2:20, 2:50, 3:20, 3:50 and 4:05 p.m.

GO is operating an early westbound bus along the main branch of the route. The bus leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 1:25 p.m. It serves most stops along the route, skipping the Meadowvale Business Park. It ends its trip in Meadowvale GO Station bus terminal at 2:50 p.m.

GO is operating an extra eastbound bus along this branch of the route. The bus leaves Meadowvale GO at 12:10 p.m., arrives in the Meadowvale Business Park at 12:20 p.m. and ends its trip in Finch terminal at 1:15 p.m.

An early homebound bus meets the westbound GO train operating along the 01 Lakeshore West line that arrives in Oakville GO Station at 5:44 p.m. The bus leaves Oakville at 5:51 p.m. and ends its trip in Milton GO Station bus terminal at 6:41 p.m. GO has cancelled the northbound bus that usually leaves Oakville at 5:41 p.m. (The bus usually arrives in Milton at 6:31 p.m.)

90 Newcastle / Oshawa

Since GO is operating earlier trains that arrive in Oshawa GO Station at 1:21, 2:23 and 3:21 p.m., it’s also operating earlier buses along this branch of the route. The buses leave Oshawa at 1:26, 2:26 and 3:26 p.m., serve all stops along the route and end their trips on King Street East east of Beaver Street in Newcastle at 2:16, 3:21 and 4:21 p.m.
