TTC detours streetcars during Queen overhead rewiring,
overnight, starting December 9



TTC crews are upgrading the streetcar overhead (wiring) along Queen Street East between Connaught Avenue and De Grassi Street overnight nightly this week, starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, December 9. Work proceeds from 8 p.m. each evening until 4:30 a.m. the following day. It continues until 4:30 a.m. December 14.

It’s detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen route to accommodate the work. Shuttle buses replace the cars.

This year, the TTC has been rewiring much of Queen Street, working section by section:

From 8 p.m. Sunday, December 9 until 4:30 a.m. Monday, December 10 and continuing overnight nightly until 4:30 a.m. Friday, December 14, westbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue, then detour:

northward along Coxwell Avenue;
westward along Gerrard Street East; and then
southward along Broadview Avenue to Queen East,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East at Kent Road, across from Connaught Avenue, at Greenwood and Alton Avenues, Leslie Street, Jones, Brooklyn, Pape, Carlaw and Logan Avenues, west of Booth Avenue and at Boulton and Broadview Avenues.

Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Coxwell Avenue at Dundas Street East, Robbins Avenue and Eastwood Road,
  • on Gerrard Street East at Rhodes Avenue (Sunday only), Ashdale Avenue, Hiawatha Road (Sunday only), Highfield Road, Greenwood and Prust Avenues, Leslie Street, Jones, Marjory, Pape, Carlaw and Logan Avenues, Howland Road (Sunday only), across from De Grassi Street and at Broadview Avenue and
  • on Broadview Avenue at Mount Stephen Street and Dundas and Queen Streets East.

Eastbound cars reverse the westbound detour routing.

  • on Queen Street East at Saulter Street, Empire Avenue, across from Booth Avenue (Sunday only), at Logan, Carlaw, Pape and Caroline Avenues, across from Jones Avenue, at Leslie and Laing Streets, across from Greenwood Avenue and at Connaught, Woodward and Coxwell Avenues.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Broadview Avenue north of Queen Street East, at Dundas Street East, across from Mount Stephen Street and at Gerrard Street East,
  • on Gerrard Street East at De Grassi Street, across from Howland Road (Sunday only), at Logan, Carlaw, Pape, Marjory, Jones, Alton and Greenwood Avenues, at Woodfield Road, Hiawatha Road (Sunday only), Ashdale Avenue, Rhodes Avenue (Sunday only) and Coxwell Avenue and
  • on Coxwell Avenue across from Robbins Avenue and at Dundas and Queen Streets East.

westward along Queen Street East to Jarvis Street,
ending their trips.

  • on Queen Street East at Neville Park Boulevard, Silver Birch Avenue, Spruce Hill Road, Glen Manor Drive, Wineva and Lee Avenues, Waverly Road, Elmer and Woodbine Avenues, Lockwood and Kingston Roads, Coxwell Avenue and Kent Road, across from Connaught Avenue, at Greenwood and Alton Avenues, Leslie Street, Jones, Brooklyn, Pape, Carlaw and Logan Avenues, west of Booth Avenue, at Boulton and Broadview Avenues and at Carroll, River, Sumach, Sackville, Parliament, Ontario, Sherbourne and Jarvis Streets.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Queen Street East at Jarvis Street, then proceed:

northward along Jarvis;
eastward along Shuter Street;
southward along Sherbourne Street;
eastward along Queen Street East; and then
southward into Neville Park Loop,
ending their trips.
