Starting Monday, September 17, Metrolinx and York Region are getting ready for the upcoming project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West by surveying the roadway.
Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and continuing for about six weeks, crews will survey across the width of Highway 7 in several locations between Highway 400 and the rail bridge just east of Bowes Road.
When necessary, police officers may control traffic to allow surveying crews to survey across the roadway, slightly delaying traffic.
Traffic lanes, sidewalks, business entrances and bus stops remain open. However, passengers riding Brampton Transit buses operating along the 501 Züm Queen route and York Region Transit buses operating along the Viva orange, Viva purple and 77 Highway 7 / Centre routes should expect delays.
