Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

Starting Monday, August 27, they’ll be closing traffic lanes, a bus stop and sidewalks in front of Tim Hortons at Davis and Longford Drives for about three weeks.

They’ll be closing the westbound curb lane on this section of Davis 24 hours a day. At times, they may also close the northbound curb lane on Longford Drive.

York Region Transit has relocated bus stop #2597 to the northwest corner of Longford and Davis. During construction, YRT buses operating along the 44 Woodspring - Bristol route pick up or drop off passengers on Longford Drive just north of Penn Avenue.

The work will block the sidewalk on the north side of Davis Drive, in front of Tim Hortons. Pedestrians should cross the road at the traffic signals at Longford Drive and Lorne Avenue and use the south sidewalk to walk in the area. If necessary, a flag person will direct pedestrians.

Construction likely continues until September 17.
