The Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa are closing
- Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) between Bond and Colborne Streets
while Region contractors upgrade the roadway and rebuild watermains and sanitary sewers. Although construction started Monday, July 16, the project requires the Region and City to completely close the street to traffic between Bond and William Streets, starting Monday, July 23.
Durham Region Transit is detouring buses operating along the 401 Simcoe, 406 / 406B Dean, 407 / 407B Ritson and 413 GO Shuttle routes and GO Transit is detouring buses operating along the 52 Oshawa / York U route during the work.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.
From Monday, July 23 until mid-September, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Simcoe Street South and Athol Street East, then detour:
eastward along Athol East; and then
northward along Mary Street South to King Street East,
ending their trips.(After the buses arrive at Mary and King Streets, they continue northward along the 407 / 407B Ritson route.)
Northbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Simcoe Street North north of Bond Street East.
Instead, northbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop
- on Mary Street South at King Street East.
413 GO Shuttle
Work on the project does not affect any streets that buses operating along this route serve. However, DRT is temporarily revising the route to improve service to passengers transferring to or from buses operating along other DRT routes.
Westbound buses operate along their regular routes.
From Monday, July 23 until mid-September, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Simcoe Street South and Athol Street, then proceed:
eastward along Athol Street East;
northward along Mary Streets South and North; and then
westward along Bond Street East to Simcoe North,
resuming their regular route westward along Bond West.Buses serve all regular stops.

northward along Mary Street North; and then
westward along William Street East to Simcoe Street North,
