Highway 7 East Rapidway construction continues,
July 9 to 13



Hwy 7 east rapidway map - June 18-12.jpgMetrolinx and York Region contractors continue to work on the project to build a rapidway — bus-only rapid transit lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 East in Markham and Richmond Hill.

Here’s what’s going on this week:

Lane closures between Highway 404 and Bayview Avenue
  • at Bayview Avenue — from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are periodically blocking both the west- and eastbound curb lanes as they build the future Bayview Station. Work continues until August 31.
  • between East Beaver Creek Road and Bayview Avenue — Starting Monday, July 9 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing multiple lanes and traffic will be heavier than usual. Work continues until July 13.
  • Leslie Street — Starting Monday, July 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the southbound right-turn lane. Work continues until July 13.
  • Leslie Street — Starting Monday, July 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the northbound curb lane. Work continues until July 13.
  • Times Avenue — Starting Monday, July 9 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the northbound curb lane. Work continues until July 13.
  • between Times Avenue and Pond Drive: contractors have closed the south-side sidewalk. Work continues until early August.
Lane closures between Warden Avenue and Highway 404
  • Warden Avenue — Starting Monday, July 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing multiple lanes and traffic will be heavier than usual. Work continues until July 13.
  • East Valhalla Drive — Starting Monday, July 9, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing southbound lanes closed in stages. Work continues until July 11.
  • between Rodick Road and South Town Centre Boulevard — Starting Monday, July 9, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing multiple westbound lanes and traffic will be heavier than usual. Work continues until July 13.

York Region Transit is:

  • closing the stop on Highway 7 at Saddlecreek Drive for eastbound buses operating along the 1 Highway 7 route — Buses resume regular service to the stop Friday, July 13.
  • closing the stop on Times Road at Highway 7 for northbound buses operating along the 82 Valleymede / Spadina route — Buses resume regular service to the stop Friday, July 13.
  • relocating the westbound Leslie vivastatation for Viva buses operating along the blue and pink routes to the northwest, instead of the northeast, corner.
  • relocating the stop on Leslie Street at Highway 7 for YRT buses operating along the 90 Leslie route from the northwest to the southwest corner.
