Town of Ajax Canada Day Events — Rotary Park

Various Canada Day events take place in Rotary Park on the lakeshore From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 1. The Town of Ajax is sponsoring two free shuttle buses to help everyone travel to and from the park.

Two free shuttle bus routes to Rotary Park
North-end shuttle

Buses leave Notre Dame Catholic High School on Harwood Avenue North at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, July 1 and every 20 minutes until 3:45 p.m. They arrive at Rotary Park 20 minutes after leaving Notre Dame.

Buses operating on return trips leave Rotary Park every 20 minutes from 10:05 a.m. until 5:25 p.m., arriving at Notre Dame 20 minutes later.

South-end shuttle

Buses leave the Ajax Community Centre, 75 Centennial Road, at 9:50, 10:05 and 10:15 a.m. Sunday, July 1 and every 15 minutes until 3:45 p.m. They arrive at Rotary Park 10 minutes after leaving the community centre.

Buses operating on return trips leave Rotary Park every 15 minutes from 10:15 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., arriving at the community centre 10 minutes later.

Aurora Canada Day Parade

The Region of York and the Town of Aurora are closing

  • Yonge Street (Regional Road 1) between St. John’s Sideroad and Industrial Parkway South

on Friday to accommodate the annual parade.

This year, the City of Brampton is again celebrating Canada at the Powerade Centre on Kennedy Road.

The City is also closing

  • Kennedy Road South, southbound lanes, between Steeles Avenue East and Hartford Trail / Great Gulf Boulevard and
  • Kennedy Road South, full road, between Hartford Trail / Great Gulf Boulevard and Derry Road East

from 11 a.m. until midnight Canada Day to accommodate the event.

Brampton Transit is operating free shuttle bus services to accommodate the large crowds attending the event. (The City is encouraging everyone to park at one of the shuttle terminals and ride the bus to the Powerade Centre). BT is also detouring one of its routes while Kennedy Road is closed.

Free shuttle buses start service at noon Sunday, July 1 from Bramalea GO Station, the Bramalea Terminal, Orion Gate (at the northeast corner of Steeles Avenue East and Resolution Road) and Sheridan College’s Davis Campus and continue until 10 p.m.

Drivers will not issue transfers.

From Bramalea Terminal: buses operate every 20 minutes from noon until 4 p.m. and every 15 minutes from 4 until 10 p.m. They return from the Powerade Centre at the same frequency.

From Bramalea GO Station: buses operate every 20 minutes from noon until 4 p.m. and every 10 minutes from 4 until 10 p.m. They return from the Powerade Centre at the same frequency.

City of Burlington Canada Day events — Spencer Smith Park

The City of Burlington’s event takes place in the park on the lakeshore from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., ending with a fireworks display at dusk after 9 p.m.

Free Shuttle Bus

Burlington Transit operates free service between the Central Library and the Downtown Burlington Bus Terminal from 7 until 11 p.m. Sunday, July 1.

Buses pick up and drop off passengers at the transit shelter on Teen Tour Way, in front of the library.


East York


East York Canada Day Festival and Parade

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Cosburn Avenue between Oak Park and Cedarvale Avenues and
  • Haldon Avenue south of East York Acres

and other streets near Stan Wadlow Park from 8 a.m. until midnight Sunday, July 1to accommodate the annual celebration.

A parade winds through East York between the East York Town Centre (mall) and Stan Wadlow Park from 9:45 a.m. until noon.

The parade starts forming at the Town Centre around 8:45 a.m., then proceeds:

clockwise along Thorncliffe Park Drive;
westward along Overlea Boulevard;
southward along Millwood Road and Donlands Avenue;
eastward along Cosburn Avenue;

Canada Day in the Park — Riverside Park

The Rotary Club of Guelph presents the annual event.

Guelph Transit is operating free shuttle buses between Guelph Central Station and Riverside Park, starting at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, July 1. At the end of the fireworks, the shuttle buses return downtown from Riverside Park on Woodlawn Road East, beside the bandstand. The last bus leaves Riverside at 11 p.m.

From 9:15 a.m. until 8:45 p.m., Guelph Transit buses operate with their regular Sunday-and-holiday schedules, with buses leaving Guelph Central Station every 30 minutes.

From 8:45 until 11 p.m. GT only operates buses along the shuttle route. Regular transit service resumes from 11:15 p.m. until 12:15 a.m.


Hamilton


City of Hamilton Canada Day Fireworks — Bayfront and Pier 4 Parks

The Hamilton Street Railway is operating free shuttle buses between downtown Hamilton and Bayfront and Pier 4 Parks from 6 p.m. until 11:45 p.m. to accommodate passengers hoping to enjoy the City of Hamilton’s fireworks display.

Northbound buses start their trips from a stop on John Street North, just north of King Street East and proceed:

northward along John Street North;
westward along Guise Streets East and West;
looping along Leander Drive at Pier 4.

Northbound buses stop to pick up passengers only on John Street North north of King Street East and at Barton Street East.

Northbound buses leave King and John at 6 p.m. and every 15 minutes until 11:30 p.m.

Southbound buses start their trips at Pier 4 and proceed:
eastward along Leander Drive and Guise Street West;
southward along James Streets North and South;
eastward along Main Street East; and then
northward along John Streets South and North,
ending their trips at a stop on John, just north of King Street East.

City of Vaughan Canada Day Events — Mackenzie Glen Park

Canada Day events take place in the park on Sunday, July 1 from 4 until 8 p.m.

The City of Vaughan is operating free shuttle buses between two parking areas to the park. Buses operate from 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. to and from Vaughan City Hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Drive West, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic High Schools, 1 St. Joan of Arc Avenue.

Town of Milton Canada Day Events — Milton Fairgrounds

The Town of Milton’s events start at 10 a.m. and end with fireworks at 10 p.m.

Milton Transit

Although Milton Transit does not usually provide service on holidays, it is operating buses along all regular routes today, slightly revising the routes when the buses reach downtown. The buses link various parts of Milton and parking lots in outlying areas with downtown to make sure everyone can get to the festival. All buses operate free of fare.

2 Main

All day, Sunday, July 1, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Heslop Road and Thomas Street, then detour:

northward along Thomas, stopping at the Milton Fairgrounds, then continuing
eastward along Sidney Street;
southward along Commercial Street; and then
westward along Heslop Road and resuming their regular route to Milton GO Station,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips at Milton GO Station, then proceed along their regular route to Milton Hospital, ending their trips.

6 Scott

All day Sunday, July 1, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Main and Bronte Streets, then detour:
