MiWay revises routes and services, starting July 2



MiWay is starting to get ready for its upcoming bus rapid transit project by introducing service to the new Skymark Hub, a temporary bus rapid transit station on Skymark Drive east of Commerce Drive in the Airport Corporate Centre area. Once the Mississauga Busway opens, the new Renforth Station will replace the temporary stop at the hub on Skymark.

It’s introducing two new routes, with buses operating to and from the hub. The new routes replace two current routes.

MiWay is also decreasing service and adjusting schedules for the summer, starting Monday, July 2.

Introducing new routes


43 Matheson - Argentia

MiWay is introducing service along this new rush-hour local route, with buses serving all stops between Meadowvale Town Centre and Skymark Hub, on Skymark Avenue between Commerce Boulevard and Explorer Drive.

Starting Tuesday, July 3, buses operate northbound-only Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours.

They start their trips at Skymark Hub, then proceed:

westward along Skymark Drive;
northward along Explorer Drive;
westward along Matheson Boulevards East and West;
northward along McLaughlin Road;
westward along Britannia Road West;
northward along Mississauga and Kitimat Roads;
westward along Argentia Road;
southward along Winston Churchill Boulevard;
eastward along Aquitaine Drive; and then
southward into Meadowvale Town Centre Terminal,
ending their trips.

Buses operate southbound-only during afternoon rush hours.

They start their trips at Meadowvale Town Centre Terminal, then proceed:

westward along Aquitaine Avenue;
northward along Winston Churchill Boulevard;
southeastward along Argentia Road;
southward along Kitimat and Mississauga Road;
eastward along Britannia Road East;
southward along McLaughlin Road;
eastward along Matheson Boulevards West and East;
southward along Explorer Drive; and then
eastward along Skymark Drive to Skymark Drive,
ending their trips.

Buses operating along the new route mostly replace the current service along the 27 Matheson route. By introducing this new route, MiWay also introduces new transit service along Kitimat Road between Argentia and Mississauga Roads and along Mississauga between Kitimat and Britannia Road West.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops:

  • on Winston Churchill Boulevard at Derry Road West,
  • on Kitimat Road south of Argentia Road and at Mississauga Road and
  • on Mississauga Road at Alpha Mills Road.

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops: - on Mississauga Road at Alpha Mills and Kitimat Roads, - on Kitimat Road north of Mississauga Road and - on Argentia Road west of Kitimat Road.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers at all stops along the route every 20 minutes. MiWay has co-ordinated the schedules so that passengers can connect at Skymark Hub with buses operating along the 35 / 35A Eglinton route.

All buses operating along the route are accessible, meaning MiWay has equipped them with ramps and space for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

87 Meadowvale - Skymark

MiWay is introducing service along this new rush-hour limited-stop route, with buses only serving some stops between Meadowvale Town Centre and Skymark Hub, on Skymark Avenue between Commerce Boulevard and Explorer Drive.

Starting Tuesday, July 3, buses operate southbound-only Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours.

They start their trips at Meadowvale Town Centre Terminal, then proceed:

westward along Aquitaine Avenue;
southward along Winston Churchill Boulevard;
eastward along Britannia Road West;
southward along Creditview Road;
eastward along Eglinton Avenues West and East;

27 Matheson

Friday, June 29 is the last day that MiWay operates buses along the route.

Starting Tuesday, July 3, it replaces service along the route with the new 43 Matheson - Argentia route. By introducing the new route, MiWay also introduces new transit service along Kismet Road between Aquitaine and Mississauga Roads and along Mississauga between Kismet and Britannia Road West.

Buses serving the new route do not operate east of Skymark Drive, along Highway 427 and Dundas Street West (Toronto) to and from Kipling Station.

89 Meadowvale - Subway

Friday, June 29 is the last day that MiWay operates buses along the route.

Starting Tuesday, July 3, it replaces service along the route with the new 87 Meadowvale - Skymark limited-stop route.

Buses serving the new route do not operate east of Skymark Drive, along Highway 427 and Dundas Street West (Toronto) to and from Kipling Station.


Increasing service along current routes


3 Bloor

Starting Tuesday, July 3, MiWay operates buses on new eastbound trips along the route. The buses leave City Centre Terminal at 1:20, 1:44 and 2:13 p.m. They arrive in Islington Station bus terminal at 2:03, 2:28 and 2:57 p.m.

It also operates a bus on a new westbound trip. The bus leaves Islington Station 5:59 p.m. It arrives in City Centre Terminal at 6:40 p.m.

20 Rathburn

Starting Tuesday, July 3, MiWay operates buses on new westbound trips. The buses leave Islington Station at 10:06 and 10:37 a.m. and 6:48 and 7:06 p.m. They arrive in City Centre Terminal at 10:44 and 11:15 a.m. and 7:28 and 7:45 p.m.

It also operates buses on new eastbound trips. The buses leave the City Centre at 2:02 and 3:07 p.m. They arrive in Islington Station bus terminal at 2:36 and 3:42 p.m.

MiWay is also decreasing service along the route.

88 Wonderland

Starting Monday, July 2, MiWay operates express buses between City Centre Terminal and Canada’s Wonderland seven days a week.

Southbound buses leave Wonderland Terminal at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 8:45 and 10:15 p.m. Sundays, holidays and Mondays to Fridays. They leave Wonderland at at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 8:45, 9:35, 10:15 and 11:15 p.m. Saturdays. And, they leave at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1, 2:30, 6:45 and 8:15 p.m. Labour Day, Monday, September 3.

Northbound buses leave City Centre Terminal at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 8 and 9:30 p.m. Sundays, holidays and Mondays to Fridays. They leave the City Centre at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 8, 9:30 and 10:20 p.m. Saturdays. And, they leave at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Labour Day, Monday, September 3.

Buses continue to operate daily until Labour Day, Monday, September 3. Starting Saturday, September 8, buses operate Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only until Sunday, October 28.

Starting Tuesday, July 3, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops east of Winston Churchill Boulevard every 10½ minutes, instead of every 14½ minutes, Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 11 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

West of Winston Churchill, where buses operate along two separate branches, buses serve passengers along each of the 35 and 35A branches every 20 minutes, instead of every 29 minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 22 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

MiWay is decreasng the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays, to co-ordinate service with buses operating along the 13 Glen Erin route.

8 Cawthra

Staring Saturday, July 7, the southbound bus that currently leaves City Centre Terminal at 6:09 p.m. Saturdays leaves, instead, three minutes later at 6:12 p.m. By operating a later bus, MiWay improves service for passengers transferring from a westbound bus operating along the 4 Sherway Gardens route.

The bus serves a stop on Cawthra Road north of North Service Road at 6:33 p.m. It arrives in Port Credit GO Station bus terminal at 6:46 p.m.

6 Credit Woodlands

Starting Tuesday, July 3, the eastbound bus that leaves Dundas Street West west of Erindale Station Road at 7:42 a.m. leaves, instead, two minutes earlier at 7:40 a.m. By operating an earlier bus, MiWay improves service for passengers connecting with other buses at City Centre Terminal. The bus arrives in the terminal at 8:13 a.m.

MiWay is also making another change to service along the route.

1 Dundas

Starting Wednesday, July 4, the last daily westbound bus that currently leaves Islington Station at 2:25 a.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays leaves, instead, five minutes earlier at 2:30 a.m. The bus serves a stop on Dundas Street East east of Dixie Road at 2:45 a.m. It arrives on Laird Road west of Ridgeway Drive at 3:20 a.m.

MiWay is also decreasing service along the route.

13 Glen Erin

Starting Monday, July 2, MiWay revises the Sunday-and-holiday schedules to improve service for passengers connecting with buses operating along the 29B Park Royal - Homelands route.

The northbound buses that currently leave Clarkson GO Station at 9:11 a.m. and 3:14 and 6:32 p.m. Sundays and holidays leave, instead at 9:14 a.m. and 3:16 and 6:35 p.m. The buses serve a stop on Erin Mills Parkway north of Fowler Drive at 9:20 a.m. and 3:22 and 6:41 p.m. They arrive in South Common Centre Terminal at 9:30 a.m. and 3:31 and 6:51 p.m. They arrive in Meadowvale Town Centre Terminal at 9:58 a.m. and 4 and 7:19 p.m.

Starting Wednesday, July 4, the last daily northbound bus that currently leaves Clarkson GO Station at 2:01 a.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays leaves, instead, five minutes later at 2:06 a.m. By operating a later bus, MiWay improves service for passengers connecting with a westbound bus operating along the 1 Dundas route.

The bus serves a stop on Erin Mills Parkway south of Dundas Street West at 2:16 a.m. It arrives in Meadowvale Town Centre Terminal at 2:51 a.m.

91 Hillcrest

GO Transit is adjusting the schedule of trains operating along the 21 Milton line. MiWay is also adjusting its schedules to improve service for passengers transferring at GO stations along the line to and from the trains.

38A Creditview - Argentia

Starting Monday, July 2, MiWay moves the east- and westbound bus stops east of Argentia Road further west along the roadway. The new location improves the safety of passengers since the stops are at a new intersection with a traffic signal. Buses operating along the new 43 Matheson - Argentia route also serve the stops Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

82 Financial

Starting Tuesday, July 3, all buses operating along the route are accessible, meaning MiWay has equipped them with ramps and space for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
