Weekend events affect transit services, June 22, 23, 24



Special events in the Bowmanville area of Clarington, Brampton, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, Hamilton; the Lindsay area of Kawartha Lakes, Markham, Oakville and Toronto affect transit services this weekend.

Summerfest

The Region of Durham and the Municipality of Clarington are closing

  • King Street East Bowmanville (Regional Highway 2) between Scugog and Ontario Streets

Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon to accommodate the Historic Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvement Area’s annual summer festival.

GO Transit is detouring buses during the event.

90 Newcastle / Oshawa

From 4 until 11 p.m. Friday, June 22 and from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday June 23, westbound buses operate along their regular route to King Street East and Liberty Street, then detour:

southward along Liberty South;
westward along Baseline Road;
northward along Waverly Road South; and then
east- and northward along Roenigk Drive to King Street West,
resuming their regular route westward along King West.

  • on King Street East west of Liberty Street North and George Street and at Temperance Street South and
  • on King Street West at Scugog Street North.

Eastbound buses reverse the detour routing.

  • Main Streets North and South between Nelson and Wellington Streets

from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday until October 6 to accommodate the weekly farmers market.

Brampton Transit is detouring bus service during the market.

2 Main

From 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street, then detour:

westward along Nelson Street West, passing, but not stopping at, the Downtown Transit Terminal,
southward along George Streets North and South; and then
eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

The Healing Cycle Ride

Participants bike along a number of different courses through parts of Brampton, Halton Hills and Milton to support hospice palliative care in Ontario. They start and end each course at GlaxoSmithKline, 7333 Mississauga Road, Mississauga, Sunday, June 24.

The event may affect Brampton Transit service.

52 Steeles West

Until 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, expect minor delays as participants bike along Heritage Road and Meadowvale Boulevard.

The Town of Halton Hills is closing

  • Main Street South Georgetown between James and Church Streets

to accommodate the Georgetown Central Business Improvement Area’s weekly market.

GO Transit is detouring bus service during the market every Saturday until October 20.

From 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, eastbound buses from Guelph operate along their regular route to Main and Guelph Streets (Provincial Highway 7) and then proceed:

southeastward along Guelph to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route southwestward along Guelph.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South opposite Cross Street and at Wesleyan Street and
  • on Mill Street at Guelph Street.

Westbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mill Street south of Guelph Street and
  • on Main Street South opposite Wesleyan Street and at Cross Street.

Buses that usually start or end their trips at Georgetown operate to and from the Georgetown GO Station, instead of Main Street South and Wesleyan Street, and do not travel through downtown Georgetown. The buses leave the GO station at the same time as usual, according to their regular schedule.

From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, June 24, inbound buses operate along their regular route to John Street South and King Street East, then detour:

southward along James Street South to Main Street West,
ending their trips.
