Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue to work on the project to build a rapidway — bus-only rapid transit lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 East in Markham and Richmond Hill.
Here’s what’s going on this week:
Lane closures between Highway 404 and Bayview Avenue
- at Bayview Avenue — from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are periodically blocking both the west- and eastbound curb lanes as they build the future Bayview Station. Work continues until August 31.
- between East Beaver Creek Road and Bayview Avenue — Starting Monday, June 18 from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing multiple lanes and traffic will be heavier than usual. Work continues until June 22.
- between West Beaver Creek Road and Bayview Avenue — Starting 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 20: Contractors are closing multiple lanes and traffic will be heavier than usual. Expect noise.
- at Leslie Street — Starting Monday, June 18, from 9:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the northbound curb lane. Work continues until June 22.
- at Times Avenue — Starting Monday, June 18, from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the northbound curb lane. Work continues until June 30.
- between Times Avenue and Pond Drive: contractors have closed the south-side sidewalk. Work continues until early August.
- between Times Avenue and Pond Drive — from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day: contractors are closing the eastbound curb lane. Work continues until June 30.
Lane closures between Warden Avenue and Highway 404
- at East Valhalla Road — Starting Monday, June 18, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day: North- and southbound lanes closed in stages. Work continues until June 21.
- between South Town Centre Boulevard and Cochrane Drive — Starting Monday, June 18, from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the westbound curb lane. Work continues until June 22.
- Circa Drive between Legends Way and Highway 7 — Starting Monday, June 18, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the north- and southbound lanes in stages. Work continues until June 20.

- closing the stop on Highway 7 at Saddlecreek Drive for eastbound buses operating along the 1 Highway 7 route — Buses resume regular service to the stop Friday, June 29.
- closing the stop on Times Road at Highway 7 for northbound buses operating along the 82 Valleymede / Spadina route — Buses resume regular service to the stop Saturday, June 30.
