More Newtonbrook waterworks construction
means more TTC detours, starting March 27



Update — Thursday, September 27, 4:09 p.m.: Construction has ended and buses have resumed regular service.


Update — Tuesday, July 3, 5:20 p.m.: Construction and the detours continue until the end of August and not the end of June as the City and the TTC previously announced.


The City of Toronto has been working on several waterworks projects in the Newtonbrook area of North York over the past few years, installing new water mains and storm sewers and an a “dry pond” to help reduce basement flooding in the area.

Now, it’s at work again, repairing storm sewers in the area.

This week, it’s closing

  • Peckham Avenue between Greenwin Village Drive and Moore Park Avenue until the end of August.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along the 98 Willowdale - Senlac route, while the road is closed.


The City has closed streets in the area, affecting TTC service, since 2010:

From 9 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, March 27 until the end of August, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Peckham Avenue and Greenwin Village Drive, then detour:

westward along Greenwin Village;
southward along Chelmsford Avenue; and then
eastward along Pleasant Avenue to Peckham Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Peckham.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Peckham Avenue south of Donnalyn Drive.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route.
