Brampton Transit raises fares, March 26

Starting Monday, March 26, Brampton Transit is raising the price of adult and senior passes and tickets. However the cash fare, all fares in the “student” category and the cost of PRESTO cards remain the same.

Brampton Transit classifies passengers older than 5 and younger than 65 years of age — except for students attending elementary and secondary schools — as adults. (This includes college and university students.) If you’re an adult passenger, the price to buy 10 tickets jumps $1 to $27.50 from $26.50. The cost of weekly passes goes up $1.50 to $29 from $27.50. You’ll need an extra $3 to buy monthly passes after March 26, when the price increases to $110 from $107.

If you’re a senior — 65 years of age or older — who lives in Brampton you can still ride the bus for just $1, if you have a BT senior identification card to take advantage of the low fare.

However, if you’re a senior visiting Brampton, or a senior without a Brampton Transit photo ID card, you must pay the full cash fare and you’ll have to pay even more, starting March 26. The price of 10 tickets will be $1 more, costing you $16, instead of $15. You’ll pay $2 more for a weekly pass, shelling out $14, instead of $12. You’ll need another $3 to get a monthly pass, since they’ll cost $50, instead of $47.
