Peterborough Transit detours buses during half-marathon,
February 26



This Sunday, the City of Peterborough is closing:

  • Aylmer Streets North and South between Rink Street and Lansdowne Street West;
  • Lansdowne Streets West and East, westbound lane, between Edwards Street and 50 metres east of Ashburnham Drive;
  • Ashburnham Drive, southbound lane, between Lansdowne Street East and Old Norwood Road;
  • Hunter Street East between Ashburnham Drive and Rogers Street;
  • Armour Road, full road, between St. Luke’s Avenue and Douro Street, the southbound curb lane between Douro Street and Parkhill Road East and all southbound lanes between Parkhill Road East and Nassau Mills Road;

and other streets to accommodate the YMCA of Central East Ontario’s 34th annual Half-Marathon. The event helps support the activities of the Balsillie Family (Peterborough) branch of the “Y”.

Peterborough Transit is detouring buses operating along the 9 Nicholls Park, 11 Ashburnham and 12 Major Bennett routes, while the streets are closed.


11 Ashburnham

From about 10:40 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, outbound buses skip all stops on Hunter Street East between Rogers Street and Ashburnham Drive and on Ashburnham Drive between Hunter Street East and Maria Street.

Inbound buses operate along their regular route.

Although Peterborough Transit has not specified the exact detour routing, outbound buses likely operate along their regular route to Hunter Street East and Rogers Street, then detour:

southward along Rogers; and then
eastward along Maria Street to Ashburnham Drive,
resuming their regular route eastward along Maria.

12 Major Bennett

From about 10:40 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, buses skip all stops on Aylmer Street between Rink Street and Lansdowne Avenue West.

Although Peterborough Transit has not specified the exact detour routing, inbound buses likely operate along their regular route to Lansdowne Avenue West and Park Street, then detour:

northward along Park Streets South and North and Rubidge Street;
eastward along Rink Street to Aylmer Street North,
resuming their regular route northward along Aylmer North.

Outbound buses likely operate along their regular route to Aylmer Street North and Rink Street, then detour:

westward along Rink; and then
southward along Park Streets North and South to Lansdowne Street West,
resuming their regular route westward along Lansdowne.

9 Nicholls Park

From about 10:40 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, buses skip all stops north of Parkhill Road East.

Although Peterborough Transit has not specified the exact detour routing, inbound buses likely start their trips on Dufferin Street, west of Armour Road, then operate along their regular route.

Outbound buses likely operate along their regular route to Dufferin Street, just west of Armour Road, ending their trips.
