Barrie Transit is operating shuttle buses between downtown Barrie and the Allandale Waterfront Station, starting Monday, January 30, just in time for the first day of GO Transit train service at the new station.
Since parking at the new station is limited (just 195 free parking spaces are available on the north side of Gowan Street), the City of Barrie is encouraging commuters to use the shuttle bus service when traveling to and from the GO trains, or, since the new station is and urban centre, to use other means of transportation — such as walking or cycling — to reach the station.
Monday-to-Friday mornings, buses operating along the new 60 Downtown GO shuttle route, start their trips on Maple Avenue, south of Ross Street, then proceed:
northward along Maple;
eastward along Ross;

Barrie Transit continues to operate shuttle buses along the 61 Holly GO shuttle route between the Holly Recreation Centre and Barrie South GO Station, and also adjusts the schedule of buses operating from the Downtown Terminal along the 39 Hurst route, so that all buses allow passengers to reach the station before each train leaves.
When you ride the shuttle buses or any Barrie Transit bus to and from the Allandale Waterfront GO or Barrie South GO Stations to connect with GO Transit trains, your ride is free of fare if you present as a valid Zone 68 or Zone 69 GO Transit ticket or pass or PRESTO fare card to the bus driver when you board.
