Metrolinx hosts public meetings to update residents
on plans to expand Georgetown South rail corridor

Update — Tuesday, January 24, 5:22 a.m.: The meeting in Weston is on Thursday, February 16, not on February 15, as we reported earlier.

Metrolinx continues to work on improving the infrastructure along the “Georgetown South” rail corridor to meet the demands of current and future GO Transit passengers. The work will also accommodate current and future VIA Rail and Canadian National Railway freight-train service and the future Air Rail Link between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Union Station.

Currently, GO trains serving the 31 Kitchener (until recently, 31 Georgetown) line operate along the entire Georgetown South corridor, while trains serving the 21 Milton and 65 Barrie lines also operate along tracks in the south end of the corridor.

Metrolinx staff host regular quarterly public meetings to update the community on the progress of construction, what to expect in over the next three months and throughout the year and to present its final report on reducing the noise and vibration resulting from work along the line.

This quarter, the meetings take place Thursday, January 26, Tuesday, February 7, Thursday, February 9 and Thursday, February 16.
