TTC revises services, October 9



The TTC is making minor changes to several routes, starting Sunday, October 9.


The TTC is revising services along these routes: 7 Bathurst, 37A Islington via Rexdale, 41 Keele, 67 Pharmacy, 68 Warden, 72 Pape, 72 Pape via Commissioners, 72B Pape via Commissioners and Cherry Beach, 85 Sheppard East, 86 Scarborough, 102 Markham Rd, 108 Downsview, 116 Morningside, 160 Bathurst North, 165 Weston Rd North, 192 Airport rocket, 224 Victoria Park North, 320 Yonge overnight.


Specifically, the TTC is cancelling branches of current routes; increasing service along current routes; decreasing service along current routes; increasing the frequency of service along a current route; decreasing the frequency of service along current routes; and adjusting the schedules of current routes.


Canceling branches of current routes


72B Pape via Commissioners & Cherry Beach

Saturday, October 8 is the last day this year that buses operate along this branch of the route. Starting Sunday, October 9, buses operate along the 72A branch of the route all day Mondays to Saturdays and before 7 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

165 Weston Rd North

Canada’s Wonderland closes for the season Sunday, October 30. Starting Monday, October 31, the TTC no longer operates buses along the 165A branch to and from Wonderland. Instead, buses operate along the 165D branch to and from Major Mackenzie Drive Mondays to Saturdays before 10 p.m. and Sundays and holidays before 7 p.m.


Increasing service along current routes


192 Airport rocket

Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC operates a bus on a new southbound trip early Sundays, Mondays and the day after statutory holidays. The bus leaves Toronto Pearson International Airport’s Terminal 3 at 2:36 a.m.

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates a bus on a new southbound trip early Tuesdays to Saturdays. The bus leaves Toronto Pearson International Airport’s Terminal 3 at 2:35 a.m.

108 Downsview

Starting Saturday, October 15, the TTC operates buses on a new round trip early Saturday evenings. The northbound bus leaves Downsview Station at about 6:20 p.m. Saturdays. The southbound bus leaves Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue at about 6:50 p.m.

41 Keele

Starting Saturday, October 15, the TTC operates a bus along a new southbound trip late Saturday evenings. The bus leaves the Harry W. Arthurs Common on York University’s Keele Campus at 10:28 p.m.

The TTC is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

102 Markham Rd

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates buses on new Monday-to-Friday afternoon trips.

First, it’s operating buses on three new round trips between 2:45 and 3:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays to serve passengers traveling from Cardinal Newman Catholic High School, R. H. King Academy, and Bliss Carman Senior Public School. (The three schools recently changed the times that teachers dismissed classes for the day.)

Second, it’s operating buses on new trips to serve passengers traveling to and from Centennial College’s Progress Campus along the 102A branch. New south- and westbound buses leave the campus at 3:25, 3:34 and 3:59 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. New east- and northbound buses leave Warden Station at 2:52, 3:15 and 3:26 p.m.

Since the travel patterns of students are changing, the TTC is also decreasing service along the route by canceling other trips to and from Centennial College Monday-to-Friday afternoons.

116 Morningside

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC increases the frequency of eastbound service along the busiest portion of the route Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours. It’s operating two extra buses which start their trips at Eglinton Avenue East and Kingston Road, loop along Kingston and Markham Roads, then serve all stops along the route to Kennedy Station. Buses drop off or pick up passengers along this new branch of the route — 116B — every 12 minutes.

72A Pape via Commissioners

Since Saturday, October 9 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses along the 72B branch to and from Cherry Beach, it’s also increasing the hours of service along the 72A branch. Buses again operate along the 72A branch Mondays to Fridays after 7 p.m. and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

South- and westbound buses operate along the regular route to Commissioners and Cherry Street, then continue northward along Cherry, instead of turning southward to Cherry Beach before proceeding northward.

East- and northbound buses operate along the regular route to Cherry and Commissioners Streets, then continue eastward along Commissioners, instead of continuing southward along Cherry to Cherry Beach, turning around, and proceeding northward along Cherry to Commissioners before proceeding eastward.

The TTC is also decreasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route at different times of the week.

320 Yonge overnight

Starting Sunday, October 16, the TTC operates more buses along the route between 3:30 and 6:30 a.m. to reduce crowding.


Decreasing service along current routes


160 Bathurst North (Steeles - Wilson Stn)

Saturday, October 8 is the last day that the TTC operates buses along this branch of the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays after 7 p.m. It’s reassigning the bus that usually provided this service to increase the frequency of service along 7 Bathurst route.

The TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service along the main route.

102 Markham Rd

The travel patterns of passengers traveling to and from Centennial College’s Progress Campus are changing, so the TTC’s cancelling some trips along the 102A branch to and from the campus.

Starting Tuesday, October 9, it no longer operates the southbound / westbound buses that currently leave the campus at 2:24, 2:52, 3:03, 3:12, 4:19 and 4:21 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

It also no longer operates the eastbound / northbound buses that currently leave Warden Station at 3:31, 3:40 and 3:42 p.m.

The TTC is also increasing service along the route.

72A Pape via Commissioners

Sunday, October 2 was the last day that buses operated along the branch late Sunday-and-holiday evenings. Starting Sunday, October 9, buses only operate along the branch before 7 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

The TTC is also increasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route at different times of the week.

86 Scarborough

Starting Tuesday, October 18, the Toronto Zoo closes earlier, so the TTC is decreasing the hours of service along the route. Buses operate Mondays to Fridays only, with the last buses leaving the zoo at about 5:30 p.m.

85 Sheppard East

Starting Saturday, October 15, the Toronto Zoo closes earlier, so the TTC is decreasing the hours of service along the route. Buses operate Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only, with the last buses leaving the zoo at about 5:30 p.m.

165 Weston Rd North

Canada’s Wonderland closes for the season Sunday, October 30. Starting Monday, October 31, the TTC no longer operates buses along the 165A branch to and from Wonderland. Instead, buses operate along the 165D branch to and from Major Mackenzie Drive Mondays to Saturdays before 10 p.m. and Sundays and holidays before 7 p.m.


Increasing the frequency of service along a current route


7 Bathurst

Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC operates one more bus along the route early Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from about 7 until 10 p.m.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 8 minutes 15 seconds, instead of every 9 minutes, early weekend-and-holiday evenings.

The TTC has canceled all service along the 160A Bathurst North branch between Steeles Avenue West and Wilson Station, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays after 7 p.m. It’s reassigning the bus that usually provided this service to increase the frequency of service along 7 Bathurst route.

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates two more buses along the route Mondays-to-Fridays during rush hours. The buses serve each stop along the route every 6 minutes, instead of every 6 minutes 48 seconds.


Decreasing the frequency of service along current routes


160 Bathurst North

Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC decreases the frequency of service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays after p.m.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 36 minutes, instead of every 24 minutes, weekend-and-holiday evenings.

The TTC is also decreasing service along a branch of the route.

37A Islington via Rexdale

Starting Saturday, October 15, buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route every 10 minutes, instead of every 8 minutes, Saturdays from about noon until 7 p.m.

72 Pape

Since the TTC is cancelling its seasonal service along the 72B branch to and from Cherry Beach, it’s also adjusting its schedule for the entire route.

Starting Tuesday, October 11, buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route north of Eastern Avenue every 13 minutes, instead of every 12 minutes, Mondays to Fridays after 10 p.m.

72A Pape via Commissioners

Since the TTC is cancelling its seasonal service along the 72B branch to and from Cherry Beach, it’s also adjusting its schedule for the entire route.

Starting Tuesday, October 11, buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route north of Eastern Avenue every 26 minutes, instead of every 24 minutes, Mondays to Fridays after 10 p.m.

The TTC is also increasing and decreasing service along the 72A branch at different times of the week.

224 Victoria Park North

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates two fewer buses along the route to decrease the frequency of service Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers on each stop along the route north of Steelcase Road every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes. South of Steelcase, buses serve each stop every 17 minutes 8 seconds, instead of every 13 minutes 20 seconds.

68 Warden

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates one less bus along the route to decrease the frequency of service along the 68B branch north of Steeles Avenue East Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the 68B branch every 21½ minutes, instead of every 14 minutes 20 seconds.


Adjusting the schedules of current routes


41 Keele

Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC adjusts the schedule of four early-morning southbound buses that currently start their trips at Keele Street and Finch Avenue West. Instead, the buses start into service at Founders Road and Steeles Avenue West, improving service southbound along the route north of Finch West early Sunday and holiday mornings.

Starting Saturday, October 15, the TTC adjusts the schedule of two early-morning southbound buses that currently start their trips at Keele Street and Finch Avenue West. Instead, the buses start into service at Founders Road and Steeles Avenue West, improving service southbound along the route north of Eglinton Avenue West early Saturday mornings.

The TTC is also increasing service along the route.

67 Pharmacy

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC adjusts the schedule of buses operating along the route Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Adjusting the schedules improves the reliability of the service. Buses continue to drop off and pick up passengers at each stop along the route as frequently as they do currently, but the times that they arrive at each stop along the route is changing.

Also, early Monday-to-Friday morning southbound buses start their trips at Reddins Road and Crosland Drive, instead of at Pharmacy Avenue and Penworth Road.
