Update — September 16, 4:10 p.m.: The TTC has identified one more loop that it plans to rebuild — at Victoria Park Avenue.
The TTC and York Region Transit are starting a project to rebuild six bus loops just north of Steeles Avenue East in Markham.
The TTC is detouring various routes while work proceeds.
First up: the loop on the east side of Middlefield Road.
The TTC is detouring buses operating along the 130 Middlefield and (probably) the 353 Steeles East overnight route while the loop is closed.
130 Middlefield

From Monday, August 30 until Wednesday, September 9, southbound buses start their trips on Elson Street, east of Middlefield Road, then proceed:
westward on Elson; and then
southward along Middlefield to the Steeles / Middlefield Loop,
resuming their regular route southward along Middlefield.Southbound buses skip their regular stop
- in Steeles / Middlefield Loop.
Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Middlefield Road and Steeles Avenue East, then detour:
eastward along Steeles East;
northward along Shadlock Street; and then
westward along Elson Street to Middlefield Road,
ending their trips.Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Middlefield Road north of Steeles Avenue East and
- in Steeles / Middlefield Loop.
353 Steeles East overnight
(The TTC has not confirmed this detour, but buses usually operate through the same Steeles / Middlefield loop.)
From Tuesday, August 31 until Wednesday, September 9, westbound buses start their trips on Elson Street, east of Middlefield Road, then proceed:
westward on Elson; and then
southward along Middlefield to just opposite the Steeles / Middlefield Loop,
resuming their regular route southward along Middlefield.Westbound buses skip their regular stop
- in Steeles / Middlefield Loop.
Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Steeles Avenue East and Middlefield Road, then detour:
eastward along Steeles East;
northward along Shadlock Street; and then
westward along Elson Street to Middlefield Road,

- on Middlefield Road north of Steeles Avenue East and
- in Steeles / Middlefield Loop.
Construction of five more TTC loops north of Steeles Avenue East follows:
- at McCowan Road from Monday, September 6 until Friday, September 10;
- at Warden Avenue from Wednesday, September 8 until Monday, September 14;
- at Brimley Road from Tuesday, September 14 until Friday, September 17;
- at Victoria Park Avenue from Tuesday, September 20 until December; and
- at Esna Park Drive from Wednesday, September 21 until Friday, October 8.
