For about two weeks, starting this Friday, the City of Toronto is closing:
- Parliament Street, between Shuter Street and Queen Street East and
- Queen Street East, between Power and Parliament Streets,
as part of a major City / TTC project to rebuild the roadway, install new sidewalks and curbs and replace the streetcar tracks and switches along Parliament Street between Gerrard and King Streets East this summer and fall.
Work on the project also involves part of the roadways of Queen and King Streets East and continues southward along Parliament between Shuter and King in phases throughout July, August and September. Later this fall, work starts northward from Shuter to Gerrard Street East.
During this phase of the project, the TTC will replace the tracks, switches and curves at the complex junction of Queen and Parliament, while the City installs new sidewalks and curbs along both Parliament and Queen East.
The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight, 501 Queen routes and buses operating along the 65 Parliament and 502 Downtowner routes, while the streets are closed.

Buses continue to replace streetcars while work continues on two other track projects at Bingham and McCaul Loops.
From 6 a.m. on Friday, July 30 until Friday, August 13, westbound buses operate along their regular routes to Queen and King Streets East, then detour:
westward along King East; and then
northward along Sherbourne Street to Queen East,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen.Westbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Queen Street East at River, Sumach, Sackville, Parliament, Ontario and Sherbourne Streets.
Eastbound buses reverse the detour routing.

From 6 a.m. on Friday, July 30 until 6 a.m. on Monday, August 16, southbound buses continue the detour they started on Monday, July 26, operating along their regular route to Parliament and Shuter Streets, then detouring:
westward along Shuter;
southward along Sherbourne Street; and then
eastward along Adelaide Street East to Parliament,
resuming their regular route southward along Parliament.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Parliament Street at Queen and Richmond Streets East.
Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Parliament Street and Richmond Street East, then detour:
westward along Richmond East;
northward along Sherbourne Street; and then
eastward along Shuter Street to Parliament,

- on Parliament Street at Richmond and Queen Streets East and Shuter Street.

Eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Church Street, then detour:
southward along Church; and then
eastward along King Street East to Queen East,

- on Queen Street East at Jarvis, Sherbourne, Ontario, Parliament, Sackville, Sumach and River Streets.
The City started work on the project at Shuter and Parliament Streets, and the TTC started detouring southbound buses operating along the 65 Parliament route on Monday, July 26.
Expect further detours resulting from work
- at Parliament Street and Richmond Street East from 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 20 until 6 a.m. on Monday, August 23,
- at Parliament Street and Adelaide Street East from 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 4 until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8,
- at Parliament Street and King Street East for 10 days in September. (The City and TTC will confirm the dates soon) and
- at King Street East and Berkeley Street for 4 days. (The City and TTC will confirm the dates soon).
Transit Toronto will post details of the detours several days before they start.
