May 11, 13, 17, 19

GO Transit is hosting a second series of open houses on expanding rail service to Hamilton and the Niagara Region.

Earlier this year, it hosted its first series of public information sessions to present possible routes, station sites and gather information from members of the public on its plans.

Now it’s ready to show you how it proposes to operate GO train service between Aldershot GO Station and the Niagara Falls VIA Rail Station.

During this series of public information centres, GO will present its plans and provide you with an opportunity to comment and offer your suggestions and ideas on the proposal.

The events take place in Grimsby, Hamilton, Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.

Sheraton Hamilton,

GO’s strategic plan, GO 2020 (60 MB .pdf), outlined expanding rail service to Niagara as part of GO’s goal to serve the entire Greater Golden Horseshoe.

GO offered a successful weekend excursion train service last summer between Niagara Falls and Toronto from Saturday, June 27 until Thanksgiving, Monday, October 12. It plans to resume the excursion service this year from Friday, May 21 until Sunday, September 26. It also introduced year-round Monday-to-Friday and weekend bus service between Burlington and Niagara Falls on Saturday, September 5, 2009.
