Guelph Transit detours buses during Suffolk construction

For two weeks, starting next week, the City of Guelph is closing

  • Suffolk Street East between Norfolk and Woolwich Street

for a construction project. (The City has not specified why it is closing Suffolk East, although the closure likely relates to the upcoming project to rebuild Norfolk Street between Quebec and Woolwich / Norwich Streets.)

Guelph Transit is detouring buses during the project.

Inbound buses operate along their regular route.

From Monday, March 22 until Thursday, April 1, outbound buses operate along their regular route to Woolwich Street and Suffolk Street East, then proceed:

northwestward along Woolwich; and then
southward along Norfolk Street to Suffolk Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Suffolk Street West.

Friday, April 2 is Good Friday. Guelph Transit does not operate buses on statutory holidays. Regular transit service along Suffolk Street East should resume on Saturday, April 3.

The City of Guelph approved rebuilding Norfolk Street as part of its 2010 capital works program. Construction on another part of Norfolk Street disrupted Guelph Transit services for much of last summer.

Inbound buses operate toward downtown.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown.
