If you live in Malvern, you have another opportunity to review and discuss plans for a new light rail vehicle facility near your neighbourhood tonight, Wednesday, March 10.
The City of Toronto and the TTC are hosting the second open house for the new Transit City carhouse to give you chance to review and comment on their plans.
The TTC wants to build the new facility at 8304 Sheppard Avenue East — a long, narrow piece of vacant land at the north-west corner of Conlins Road and Sheppard.
During the event, staff will introduce potential layouts for the facility, describe the current conditions of the site and explain how the upcoming transit project assessment process works.
The new carhouse will let the TTC store and maintain the vehicles that it needs to operate the Sheppard East light rail Transit City line that it recently started to build. The carhouse will also likely supply vehicles to the future Scarborough - Malvern Transit City line. Now that the TTC and City have decided to extend the 3 Scarborough rapid transit line and convert it to light rail, this carhouse would serve that line, too.
After the open house, TTC staff will review your comments, evaluate the design options and choose a layout. They then will identify the potential effects in detail and recommend ways to resolve any issues that you may have identified during this event.
The open house takes place on Wednesday, March 10 from 6:30 until 9 p.m. at:
Chinese Cultural Centre,
5183 Sheppard Avenue East
at Markham Road.
The City and TTC already hosted an public meeting on the facility last month, on Wednesday, February 10. They plan to host yet another open house this spring to present the design they recommend for the new facility and, again, you’ll have an opportunity to review and comment on their plans.
