Sneak peek at subway stations in Vaughan, March 10

< — Steeles West Station

Subway trains are heading to Vaughan — sometime in 2015.

Now you can take a sneak peek at the TTC’s plans for the Vaughan three subway stations — Steeles West, Highway 407 and Vaughan Corporate Centre — at an open house on Wednesday, March 10.

The new stations are an important part of the project to extend the Spadina leg of the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway northwest from Downsview Station to York University and Vaughan.

Vaughan Corporate Centre Station — >

Steeles West station will stand at Steeles Avenue West and North West Gate on the edge of York University’s Keele Campus. Highway 407 Station will stand south of the highway, just west of Jane Street. Eventually, a separate roadway for bus rapid transit beside Highway 407 will also connect with the subway at this station. Vaughan Corporate Centre Station will stand on Highway 7 at Millway Avenue, one block west of Jane Street.

The open house takes place from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at:

Toscana Centre,
The Hilton Garden Inn
3201 Highway 7 at Edgely Boulevard / Interchange Way.

The hotel is just one block west of the site of the future Vaughan Corporate Centre Station. (The Region of York and City of Vaughan are now referring to this station by a new name: “Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station”.)

Since Steeles West station straddles the border between Toronto and Vaughan, the TTC already hosted an open house in Toronto about its plans for the station on Tuesday, February 3.

In the spring, the TTC will host another open house to present more detailed plans for the three Vaughan stations.
