New route, new buses, new operator, new fares:
New Milton Transit services start March 8



Next week, Milton Transit expands service to the Scott neighbourhood during rush hours, has three new, larger buses on the road and welcomes a new service contractor.

It’s also raising fares.


New route


6 Scott express

Starting Monday, March 8, Milton Transit buses start serving stops along a new route between the Scott neighbourhood and Milton GO Station.

Eastbound buses start their trips at Scott Boulevard and Derry Road West, then proceed:

southward along Scott Boulevard;
westward along Dymott Avenue;
northward along Savoline Boulevard;
westward along McDougall Cross;
northward along Scott Boulevard; and then
eastward along Main Streets West and East to Milton GO Station,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips at Milton GO Station, then proceed:

westward along Main Street East;
southward along Scott Boulevard;
westward along Dymott Avenue;
northward along Savoline Boulevard;
westward along McDougall Cross;
northward along Scott Boulevard; and then
eastward along Main Streets West and East to Milton GO Station,
ending their trips.

Monday-to-Friday mornings, buses leave Scott Boulevard and Derry Road at 6, 6:25, 6:50, 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. They serve the loop around Dymott, Savoline and McDougall, return to Scott and Derry and continue to Milton GO Station, arriving at 6:15, 6:40, 7:05, 7:30 and 8 a.m.

Monday-to-Friday afternoon, buses leave Milton GO Station at 5:30, 5:55, 6:25, 6:50 and 7:15 p.m. They operate to Dymott Avenue and Savoline Boulevard, then return to Milton GO Station, arriving at 5:55, 6:20, 6:50, 7:15 and 7:40 p.m.

You can ride buses operating along the new route free of fare *until Friday, *April 9.

New buses


Milton Transit now is operating three new, larger 40-foot buses, offering a smoother ride, more seating and a fully accessible fleet for 2010.


New contractor


Also on Monday, March 8, PW Transit (Pacific Western) starts operating Milton Transit services on behalf of the Town of Milton.

PW Transit has opened a new facility to store and maintain the Town’s buses in Milton and will be hosting a public event to show off the new garage soon.

Pacific Western also operates the Toronto Airport Express buses linking downtown Toronto with Toronto Pearson International Airport and the Porter Airlines shuttle buses, carrying passengers between downtown Toronto to the Billy Bishop Toronto Island Airport ferry. It also co-ordinated transit services to the various events in Whistler, British Columbia during the Vancouver Winter Olympics.


New fares


Starting Monday, March 8, Milton Transit is increasing cash fares by 25 cents. Seniors, adults, students and children all start paying $2.75 at the farebox, instead of $2.50. Milton Transit is also adjusting the cost of weekly and monthly passes.
