We thought that David Caplan’s proposal to declare public transit an essential service had died on Monday, especially when Ontario’s Minister of Transportation, Kathleen Wynne stated that the Government of Ontario wouldn’t support the move.
But, then, yesterday, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty told a reporter that he felt that the upcoming municipal election was the perfect time for Torontonians to have a public debate on this issue.
Today, Toronto Mayor David Miller weighed in and, basically, told the premier to mind his own business and leave municipal politics to municipal politicians.
So, the “essential” debate continues…
