City buying still more land to extend subway

The City of Toronto wants to buy more property for the project to extend the Spadina leg of the TTC’s 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway from Downsview Station to the Vaughan Corporate Centre.

This week, last week and next week, ads in the Toronto Star officially notify the public that the City intends to expropriate parts of 3875 Keele Street, 11 - 15, 23, 25 - 27, 40 and 42 - 44 Kodiak Crescent and 1140, 1150 and 1170 Sheppard Avenue West to build and operate the subway beneath the properties. (Provincial legislation requires municipalities to advertise expropriations three times.)

The City has previously advertised that it intended to buy parts of land on the west side of Keele Street between Finch and Sheppard Avenues West, on Finch Avenue West and St. Regis Crescent in April, 2009 and January, 2010.
