Smoke and "security incident" affect TTC subway service
this morning

Update — 11:16 a.m.: A “security incident” also disrupted westbound service along the 2 Bloor - Danforth line at Greenwood Station about an hour ago.

With a major disruption to GO Transit service, this was not a good morning for commuters. TTC subway passengers also faced less significant delays. Two reports of smoke in the subway system affected subway service late in the rush-hour commute this morning.

The TTC shut down the 2 Bloor - Danforth line between Warden and Kennedy Stations from about 9 until 9:35 a.m. after someone reported smoke on the tracks.

It also shut down the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina line between York Mills and Eglinton Stations from about 9:20 until 9:50 a.m., again after someone reported smoke at the track level.

The TTC operated shuttle buses to replace the service along both lines.

Members of the Toronto Fire Services team investigated both incidents and gave the “all clear” signal for the TTC to resume service.
