Toronto Transit Commisssion to discuss raising fares, November 17

A TTC staff proposal to raise fares, starting Sunday, January 3 is top of the agenda when the Toronto Transit Commission meets this Tuesday, November 17 at 1 p.m.

The Commissioners meet in Committee Room 1 on the second floor of City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

On the agenda, among other items, are staff reports recommending that the Commission approve:

  • adopting the Presto smartcard fare system. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • the final route, stations, stops, bus terminals and other details of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail Transit City line. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • a strategy for increasing the capacity of the TTC subway yards to serve new and extended subway lines. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • the design concept for the future Highway 407 Station, part of the project to extend the Spadina leg of the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway to Vaughan. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • fund building accessible platforms for streetcar passengers on Roncesvalles Avenue. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • not renaming Dupont Station as “Casa Loma” station and not extending the 33 Forest Hill route between St. Clair West and Spadina Stations to serve Casa Loma. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
