Norfolk construction at Paisley and Quebec Streets
affects Guelph Transit buses, starting September 28



Update — October 11: Buses operating along the 23 Paisley / Imperial and 24 Industrial routes resumed regular service at 3:40 p.m. Friday, October 9.


Update — September 29: Guelph Transit has revised some of the detour routes.


During the next phase of the long-standing project to rebuild Norfolk Street, the City of Guelph is opening the southbound lanes of Norfolk Street south of Macdonell Street. However, it is also closing the intersection of Norfolk with Paisley and Quebec Streets for about three weeks.

Guelph Transit is detouring buses further during this phase of the project.


The detours affect these routes: 3 Waterloo / Fife; 6 Auden / Eastview; 7 St. Joseph’s Hospital; 9 Stone Road Mall; 10 College / Niska; 22 Conestoga; 23 Paisley / Imperial; 24 Industrial; 51 Gordon; 52 University / Kortright; 54 Arkell; 61 Victor Davis; Community Bus B.


54 Arkell

Buses continue to operate along the detour that started on Monday, June 8.

6 Auden / Eastview

From Monday, September 28 until Friday, October 16, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Elizabeth Street and Macdonell Street, then detour:

eastward along Macdonell Street;
northward along Arthur Street North;
southwestward along Eramosa Road; and then
southward along Wyndham Street North to St. George’s Square,
ending their trips at a temporary stop on Wyndham Street North, north of Quebec Street.

Inbound buses skip their regular stop on Macdonell Street west of Woolwich Street.

Outbound start their trips at a temporary stop at the south side of Quebec Street west of Wyndham Street North, then proceed:

eastward along Quebec to St. George’s Square, then proceed along their regular route, southward along Wyndham North.

Buses operating along the 6 Auden / Eastview continue to detour around another construction project on Elizabeth Street.

10 College / Niska

Buses no longer operate along the same detour route as they have since Monday, June 8. Instead, starting Monday, September 28, they operate along a new detour route around construction on Wyndham Street South between Farquhar Street and Wellington Street East.

Community Bus ‘B”

(Guelph Transit has not confirmed this detour.)

From Monday, September 28 until Friday, October 16, outbound buses operate along their regular route to Woolwich Street and Suffolk Street East, then detour:

northwest- and northward along Woolwich;

22 Conestoga

Inbound buses operate along their regular route.

From Monday, September 28 until Friday, October 16, outbound buses start their trips at a temporary stop on the northeast corner of Wyndham Street North and Douglas Street, then proceed:

northward along Wyndham North;
northwest- and northward along Woolwich Street;
westward along London Road; and then
southward along Yorkshire Street North to Suffolk Street West,
resuming their regular route westward along Suffolk West.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops on Suffolk Street West at Norfolk Street, Dublin Street North and Glasgow Street North.

51 Gordon

Buses continue to operate along the detour that started on Monday, June 8.

24 Industrial

From Monday, September 28 until Friday, October 16, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Paisley Street and Yorkshire Street North, then detour:

eastward along Suffolk Streets West and East;
southwestward along Baker Street; and then
eastward along Quebec Street to a temporary stop on the southwest corner of Quebec and Wyndham Street North (St. George’s Square).

Inbound buses skip their regular stops along Paisley Street at Glasgow Street North and Norfolk Street.

Outbound buses start their trips on Wyndham Street North, north of Quebec Street, then proceed:

southward along Wyndham North, passing St. George’s Square,
