TTC revises routes and services, September 6



The TTC resumes its regular fall service, starting Sunday, September 6. It’s also starting to restore service to the same level that it provided passengers earlier this year. Since February, a critical shortage of buses forced the TTC to cut back many bus services.


The changes affect these routes:

Canceling current routes

193 Exhibition Rocket

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses along this route. Service resumes in August 2010.


Canceling branches of current routes

29 Dufferin

Thursday, August 20 was the last day this year that the TTC operated buses along the 29B branch to Ontario Place. Service resumes to Ontario Place in May, 2010.

30 Lambton

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that buses operate along the 30B branch into High Park. Service into High Park resumes in May, 2010.

72 Pape

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that buses operate along the 72B branch to Cherry Beach. Service to Cherry Beach resumes in June, 2010.

The TTC is also increasing the frequency of service along parts of the route and decreasing the frequency along other parts of the route.


Increasing service along current routes

38 Highland Creek

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes operating the 38A branch between the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and Scarborough Centre Station Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m.

192 Highway 27 rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes late Monday-to-Friday morning short-turn trips between Humber College’s North Campus and Kipling Station.

35E Jane express

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes operating the express branch between York University’s Keele Campus and Jane Station.

44 Kipling South

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes extra service between Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus and Kipling Station.

It operates three more buses during Monday-to-Friday rush hours to increase the frequency of service from every 7½ minutes to every 4½ minutes. It operates one more bus from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays to increase the frequency of service from every 8 minutes to every 6 minutes.

102 Markham Rd

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes extra service along the 102A branch between Centennial College’s Progress Campus and Warden Station.

134 Progress

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes extra service along the 134C branch between Centennial College’s Progress Campus and Scarborough Centre Station.

96E Wilson express

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes operating the express branch between Humber College’s North Campus and Wilson Station.


Decreasing service along current routes

511 Bathurst

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that the TTC operates extra service to the Canadian National Exhibition and the waterfront. Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC decreases service along the route. Fewer passengers travel to the waterfront during the fall.

29 Dufferin

Thursday, August 20 was the last day this year that the TTC operated buses along the 29B branch to Ontario Place.

Service resumes to Ontario Place in May, 2010.

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that the TTC operates extra service to Exhibition Place. Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC decreases service along the route. Fewer passengers travel to the Exhibition during the fall.

509 Harbourfront

Starting Tuesday, September 8, all passengers must pay their fare or show a valid TTC transfer or pass when boarding streetcars at all stops along the route.

30 Lambton

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that buses operate along the 30B branch into High Park. Starting Tuesday, September 8 all buses operate along the main 30 route between Kipling and High Park Stations.

Service into High Park resumes in May, 2010.

72 Pape

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that buses operate along the 72B branch to Cherry Beach. Starting Tuesday, September 8, all buses operate along either the main 72 route between Pape Station and Eastern Avenue or the 72A branch between Pape and Union Stations. Buses operating along the 72A branch proceed westward along Commissioners Street and then northward along Cherry Street, instead of proceeding to Cherry Beach. Buses operating toward Pape Station proceed southward along Cherry and then eastward along Commissioners instead of proceeding to Cherry Beach.

Service to Cherry Beach resumes in June, 2010.

The TTC is also increasing the frequency of service along parts of the route and decreasing the frequency along other parts of the route.

86 Scarborough

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that buses operate to and from the Toronto Zoo Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. Weekend service to the zoo resumes in May, 2010.

Also, starting Tuesday, September 12, buses no longer operate to and from the Toronto Zoo later than 7 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

The TTC is decreasing the hours of service because the zoo closes earlier in the fall.

The TTC is also increasing the frequency of service along the route.

85 Sheppard East

Starting Saturday, September 12, buses no longer operate to and from the Toronto Zoo after 7 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Labour Day, Monday, September 7 is the last day this year that the passengers can use a special procedure for paying fares when boarding streetcars along Queens Quay West. Starting Tuesday, September 8, all passengers must pay their fare or show a valid TTC transfer or pass when boarding streetcars at all stops along the route.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC decreases service along the route. Fewer passengers travel to the waterfront during the fall. The TTC no longer short-turns streetcars at Queens Quay West and Lower Spadina Avenue, except early every morning. At all other times of the week, all streetcars operate from Spadina Station to either Charlotte Loop (King Street West) or Union Station.

92 Woodbine South

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC decreases service along the route. Fewer passengers travel to the waterfront during the fall.


Increasing the frequency of service along current routes

61 Avenue Rd North

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route during afternoon rush hours to increase the frequency west of Coxwell from every 7 minutes to every 6 minutes 15 seconds.

22 Coxwell

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service along the route during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 8 minutes to every 6 minutes.

105 Dufferin North

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. It’s also adjusting the schedule of the route since the construction project north of Steeles Avenue has ended and no longer delays bus service.

Under the new schedule, the TTC operates one less bus along the route during morning rush hours but can still increase the frequency from every 15 minutes to every 14 minutes. It operates one less bus along the route but can still increase the frequency from every 13 minutes to every 12 minutes.

39 Finch East

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of express service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency of express service west of McCowan Road from every 4 minutes 45 seconds to every 4½ minutes.

36 Finch West

Starting Sunday, September 6, the TTC increases the frequency of service Sundays and holidays. It operates xx more cars along the route to increase the frequency Sunday and holiday afternoons from every 6 minutes 40 seconds to every 6 minutes 15 seconds.

Starting Saturday, September 12, the TTC increases the frequency of service Saturday afternoons. It operates xx more streetcars along the route to increase the frequency of service from every 6 minutes 40 seconds to every 6 minutes 15 seconds.

12 Kingston Rd

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 12½ minutes to every 10 minutes.

54 Lawrence East

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route between Scarborough Golf Club Road and Lawrence East Station to increase the frequency from every 3 minutes 40 seconds to every 3 minutes 20 seconds.

58 Malton

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency east of Toronto Pearson International Airport from every 7½ minutes to every 7 minutes 5 seconds.

It’s also increasing the frequency of service early Monday-to-Friday evenings from about 7 until 10 p.m. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency east of Pearson from every 12 minutes to every 10½ minutes.

Operating one more bus partially restores service to the levels that the TTC operated along the route earlier this year. On February 15, a shortage of buses forced it to decrease service.

46 Martin Grove

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. It operates xx more buses along the route to increase the frequency from every 11 minutes 15 seconds to every 10 minutes.

Operating one more bus restores service to the levels that the TTC operated along the route earlier this year. On February 15, a shortage of buses forced it to decrease service.

129 McCowan North

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service early and late Monday-to-Friday evenings. It extends the afternoon rush hour to 7:30 p.m. and increases the frequency between 7 and 7:30 p.m. south of Steeles Avenue East to every 4 minutes 15 seconds. It increases the frequency between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays to every 10 minutes.

116 Morningside

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. It operates two more buses during morning rush hours to increase the frequency along the main 116 route between Finch Avenue East and Kennedy Station from every 6 minutes to every 5 minutes 45 seconds. It operates three more buses during afternoon rush hours to increase frequency along the main 116 route between Finch Avenue East and Kennedy Station from every 5½ minutes to every 4½ minutes and along the 116A and E branches between Conlins Road, the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and Kennedy Station from every 18 minutes to every 15 minutes.

131 Nugget

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 7½ minutes to every 7 minutes.

70 O’Connor

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency south of St. Clair Avenue East and O’Connor Drive from every 7 minutes to every 6½ minutes.

Starting Sunday, September 6, the TTC increases the frequency of service from every 15 minutes to every 13 minutes late evenings after 10 p.m. seven days a week.

67 Pharmacy

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes.

161 Rogers Rd

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 12½ minutes to every 10 minutes 45 seconds.

86 Scarborough

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. It operates four more buses along the route during morning rush hours to increase the frequency south of Sheppard Avenue East from every 53 minutes 1 second to every 2½ minutes. It operates two more buses along the route during afternoon rush hours to increase the frequency of service south of Sheppard from every 4 minutes 23 seconds to every 3 minutes 55 seconds.

85 Sheppard East

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates two more buses along the route to increase the frequency between Meadowvale Road and Don Mills Station from every 4½ minutes to every 4 minutes 15 seconds.

The TTC is also decreasing service along the route at other times of the week.

84 Sheppard West

Starting Sunday, September 6, the TTC increases the frequency of service until 7 p.m. Sundays and holidays. It operates one more bus along the route from every 16 minutes to every 13 minutes.

75 Sherbourne

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route to increase the frequency from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes.

Operating one more bus restores service to the levels that the TTC operated along the route earlier this year. On February 15, a shortage of buses forced it to decrease service.

88 South Leaside

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route during morning rush hours to increase the frequency from every 7½ minutes to every 6 minutes. It operates one more bus along the route during afternoon rush hours to increase the frequency from every 8½ minutes to every 7½ minutes.

41 Warden

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates three more buses along the route to increase the frequency south of Steeles Avenue East from every 4 minutes to every 3 minutes 35 seconds. North of Steeles, it increases the frequency from every 20 minutes to every 14 minutes.

89 Weston

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours. It operates one more bus along the route during morning rush hours to increase the frequency from every 6 minutes to every 5 minutes 35 seconds. It operates one more bus along the route during afternoon rush hours to increase the frequency from every 8½ minutes to every 7 minutes 45 seconds.

Operating one more bus partially restores service to the levels that the TTC operated along the route earlier this year. On February 15, a shortage of buses forced it to decrease service.

196 York University rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service between Sheppard - Yonge Station, Downsview Station and the Harry W. Arthurs Common at York University’s Keele Campus.

It’s also revising the route.


Decreasing the frequency of service along current routes

38 Highland Creek

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC decreases the frequency of service east of the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m.

It decreases the frequency of service from every 11 minutes to every 15 minutes during morning rush hours. It decreases the frequency from every 10 minutes to every 12 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

It also increases the frequency of service west of the Scarborough Campus Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m.

72A Pape via Commissioners

Starting Sunday, September 6, the TTC decreases the frequency of service late evenings after 10 p.m. seven days a week from every 15 minutes to every 26 minutes.

The TTC also increases the frequency along other parts of the route and decreases service along the route at other times of the week.


Extending current routes

107 Keele North

Starting Sunday, September 5, the TTC extends the route to McNaughton Road and Troon Avenue.

Southbound buses start their trips on Troon Avenue and McNaughton Road and proceed:

westward along McNaughton; and then
southward along Keele Street to Maple Arena,
resuming their current route southward along Keele.

Northbound buses operate along their current route to Keele Street at the Maple Arena, then proceed:

northward along Keele;
east- and southward along McNaughton Road
westward along Eagle Rock Way; and then
northward along Troon Avenue to McNaughton,
ending their trips.

Buses no longer loop at the Maple Arena.

Also starting Sunday, September 5, York Region Transit extends its 22 King City route to Troon Avenue and McNaughton Road>


Revising current routes

329 Dufferin overnight
316 Ossington overnight

Starting Tuesday, September 8, buses resume their regular route after detouring during the Canadian National Exhibition.

196 York University rocket

Starting Sunday, September 6, buses operate along on the first part of the new York University busway, between Murray Ross Parkway and York Boulevard.

Before noon every day, southbound buses operate along their current route.

After noon, southbound buses start their trips at the Harry W. Arthurs Common at York University’s Keele Campus, then proceed:

eastward along York Boulevard;
southward along the busway; and then
eastward along Murray Ross Parkway to Keele Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Keele.

Southbound buses serve a new bus stop on Murray Ross at the busway.

Before noon every day, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Keele Street and Murray Ross Parkway, then proceed:

westward along Murray Ross;
northward along the busway; and then
westward along York Boulevard to the Harry W. Arthurs Common at York University’s Keele Campus,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses serve a new bus stop on Murray Ross at the busway.

Buses serving passengers traveling along this route no longer operate along Keele Street between Murray Ross Parkway and York Boulevard and along York Boulevard between Keele Street and the busway.

The full busway, which includes a new east-west bus-only road in the hydro corridor north of Finch Avenue, and a new bus entrance / exit at the south end of Downsview Station, opens later in 2009.

The TTC also increases the frequency of service along the route.


Resuming extra service to colleges and universities

38 Highland Creek

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes the 38A branch between the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and Scarborough Centre Station Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m.

Four buses operate along the 38A branch every 15 minutes during morning rush hours, every 10 minutes from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and every 12 minutes during afternoon rush hours. Buses operating along the main 38 branch continue to serve the Scarborough Campus. Buses operating on both branches together serve stops between the campus and Scarborough Centre Station every 7 minutes during morning rush hours, every 5 minutes from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and every 6 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

191 Highway 27 rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes late Monday-to-Friday morning short-turn trips between Humber College’s North Campus and Kipling Station.

35E Jane express

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes operating the express branch between York University’s Keele Campus and Jane Station. Five buses operate every 20 minutes during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. Six buses operate every 17 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

44 Kipling South

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes extra service for passengers traveling to or from Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus.

It operates three more buses during Monday-to-Friday rush hours to increase the frequency of service from every 7½ minutes to every 4½ minutes. It operates one more bus from about 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays to increase the frequency of service from every 8 minutes to every 6 minutes.

102 Markham Rd

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes extra service along the 102A branch for passengers traveling to or from Centennial College’s Progress Campus.

It operates one more bus during Monday-to-Friday rush hours to increase the frequency of service from every 12 minutes to every ten minutes.

134 Progress

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes extra service along the 134C branch for passengers traveling to or from Centennial College’s Progress Campus.

It operates three more buses during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours to increase the frequency of service from every 8 minutes to every 5 minutes. It operates one more bus during afternoon rush hours to increase the frequency from every 8 minutes to every 6 minutes.

96E Wilson express

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC resumes operating the express branch between Humber College’s North Campus and Wilson Station. Six buses operate every 14 minutes during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. Four buses operate every 21 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

196 York University rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 8, the TTC increases the frequency of service. It operates three more buses along the route during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours and until 10:30 a.m. Mondays to Fridays to increase the frequency from every 6 minutes to every 2 minutes 15 seconds to every 2 minutes. It operates one more bus along the route Monday-to-Friday mornings after 10:30 a.m. to increase the frequency from every 6 minutes to every 2 minutes 15 seconds to every 2 minutes.

It operates three more buses along the route Monday-to-Friday afternoons to increase the frequency from every 2&12; minutes to every 2 minutes 15 seconds. It operates one more bus along the route during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours to increase the frequency of service from every 2 minutes 45 seconds to every 2 minutes 20 seconds.

Operating more buses Mondays to Fridays restores service to the levels that the TTC operated along the route earlier this year. On February 15, a shortage of buses forced it to decrease service.

Starting Saturday, September 12, the TTC operates service later Saturday evenings (early Sunday mornings.) Buses leave Downsview Station every 15 minutes until 2:15 a.m. Sundays.
