TTC revises service, August 31



The TTC will increase service along many of its routes, when it launches its fall schedules on Sunday, August 31.


Specifically, the TTC will: revise current routes; increase service on current routes; decrease service on current routes; increase service to colleges and universities; cancel or decrease seasonal service; change a seasonal route to a permanent route; resume services to high schools; and adjust the schedules of current routes.

Revise current routes

29 Dufferin

Starting Tuesday, September 2, buses operating southward from Wilson Station resume service into Exhibition Place south of the Dufferin Gate on the 29D branch to the Princes’ Gate. Buses have not operated on this branch since the Canadian National Exhibition opened on Friday, August 15. Monday-to-Friday rush-hour short-turn buses operating southward from Wingold Avenue continue to turn at the Dufferin Gate Loop. The TTC will not operate buses along the 29B branch to Ontario Place until next summer.

Starting Wednesday, September 3, buses resume operating along their regular route into Exhibition Place. Buses have operated along a temporary route since the Canadian National Exhibition opened on Friday, August 15.


Increase service on current routes

192 Airport Rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours from every 22 minutes 30 seconds to every 15 minutes. With this change, TTC buses operate along the route every nine to fifteen minutes at all times of the week.

6 Bay

Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC continues to operate buses Saturday, Sunday and holiday evenings. (This is the first fall since 1996 that the TTC has operated Saturday, Sunday and holiday evening service on the route. Since 1996, the TTC has only provided weekend evening service during the summer.) Seven days a week, the last southbound bus leaves Davenport Road and Dupont Street at 10:11 p.m. Seven days a week, the last northbound bus leaves Lower Jarvis Street and Queens Quay East at 10:36 p.m.

9 Bellamy

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service during Monday-to-Friday peak periods from every 18 minutes to every 15 minutes.

2 Bloor - Danforth subway

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Mondays to Fridays from every 4 minutes 53 seconds to every 4 minutes 15 seconds. It also increases the service early Monday-to-Friday evenings before 10 p.m. from every 4 minutes 52 seconds to every 4 minutes 4 seconds.

20 Cliffside

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours from every 13 minutes to every 11 minutes.

108 Downsview

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer.

144 Downtown / Don Valley Express

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases service during Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours. It operates one more southbound bus, leaving York Mills Road and Victoria Park Avenue at 7:45 a.m.

The TTC also adjusts the schedule of the route.

34 Eglinton East

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC will operate a new Monday-to-Friday trip, leaving Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East at 3:35 p.m. to reduce crowding during the afternoon dismissal time at Northern Secondary School.

32 Eglinton West

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service from about 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours, the TTC increases the frequency of service on each of the 32A (between Eglinton Station and Reforth or Skymark) and 32C (traveling along Eglinton Avenue West and Trethewey Drive between Eglinton Station and Jane and Lawrence) branches so that buses operate every 4 minutes 20 seconds along the route. It increases the frequency of service on the 32D branch (between Eglinton West Station and Jane and Emmett) to every 8 minutes 40 seconds. It increases service west of Skymark Avenue on the 32B branch (between Eglinton Station and the Airport Corporate Centre) to every 17 minutes 20 seconds. Along the common part of the route between Keele Street / Trethewey Drive and Eglinton West Station, the TTC operates buses every 1 minute 44 seconds. Along the common part of the route between Eglinton West and Eglinton Stations, the TTC operates buses every 2 minutes 10 seconds.

Midday — from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Mondays to Fridays — along the common part of the route between Keele / Trethewey and Eglinton West Station, the TTC operates buses every 3 minutes 30 seconds. Along the common part of the route between Eglinton West and Eglinton Stations, the TTC operate buses every 5 minutes 15 seconds.

Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours, the TTC increases the service on each of the 32C and 32D branches to every 6 minutes 30 seconds. It increases service on each of the 32A and 32B branches to every 13 minutes. Along the common part of the route between Keele / Trethewey and Eglinton West Station, the TTC operates buses every 2 minutes 10 seconds. Along the common part of the route between Eglinton West and Eglinton Stations, the TTC operates buses every 3 minutes 15 seconds.

Early Monday-to-Friday evenings before 10 p.m., the TTC operates buses along each of the 32A and 32C branches every 11 minutes. Along the common part of the route between Keele / Trethewey and Eglinton Station, the TTC operates buses every 5 minutes 30 seconds.

36 Finch West

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer.

38 Highland Creek

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service to accommodate passengers traveling to or from colleges or universities.

191 Highway 27 Rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer. It also resumes operating buses along the 191A branch between Kipling Station and Humber College’s North Campus.

35 Jane

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases service at busy times throughout the week.

Monday-to-Friday morning rush hours, the TTC increases local service along the common part of the route south of Steeles Avenue West from every 3 minutes 40 seconds to every 3 minutes 20 seconds. North of Steeles, it increases service on the 35D branch (between Jane Station and Langstaff Road) from every 11 minutes to every 10 minutes.

Midday — from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays — the TTC increases service on the common part of the route south of Steeles from every 4 minutes 45 seconds to every 4 minutes 30 seconds. It increases service north of Steeles Avenue on the 35D branch from every 28 minutes 30 seconds to every 27 minutes.

Monday-to-Friday late evenings after 10 p.m., the TTC increases the service from every 10 minutes to every 9 minutes.

Saturday mornings, the TTC increases service on the common part of the route south of Steeles Avenue from every 5 minutes 20 seconds to every 5 minutes. The TTC will also decrease the service north of Steeles on Saturday mornings.

Sunday and holiday afternoons, the TTC increases service on the common part of the route south of Steeles from every 5 minutes 15 seconds to every 5 minutes.

41 Keele
46 Martin Grove

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer.

102 Markham Road

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases service midday — from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays — on the 102D branch between Warden Station and Mount Joy GO Station. It operates buses every 30 minutes instead of every 60 minutes.

116 Morningside

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours.

It increases service on the 116 local branch betwee Kennedy Station and Old Finch local branch from every 7 minutes to every 6 minutes during morning rush hours, and from every 5 minutes 30 seconds to every 5 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

It increases service on the 116A/E local / express branch between Kennedy Station and Scarborough College and Conlins from every 19 minutes to every 15 minutes during morning rush hours and from every 18 minutes to every 15 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

134 Progress

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service to accommodate passengers traveling to or from colleges or universities.

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer.

60 Steeles West

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer. It also resumes operating more service to accommodate passengers traveling to York University’s Keele Campus.

124 Sunnybrook

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service to accommodate passengers traveling to or from colleges or universities.

224 Victoria Park North

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours on the 224D branch between Don Mills Station and Major Mackenzie Drive. The TTC operates buses on the branch every 20 minutes during rush hours instead of every 30 minutes.

1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service early Monday-to-Friday evenings before 10 p.m. from every 4 minutes 25 seconds to every 4 minutes 15 seconds.

Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC increases the service during Saturday daytime from 4 minutes 13 seconds to every 4 minutes 3 seconds.

106 York University

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes full service on the route. The TTC reduced the service in June because fewer passengers ride the route during the summer.

196 York University Rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service to accommodate passengers traveling to or from York University.


Decrease service on current routes

511 Bathurst

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC reduces the service that it added to serve passengers traveling to and from the Canadian National Exhibition and the waterfront.

172 Cherry Street

Labour Day, Monday, September 1 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses on Cherry Street, south of Commissioners Street to Cherry Beach.

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC only operates buses on the 172A branch. Buses operate every 30 minutes during Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day on Sundays and holidays, and every 15 minutes during the daytime on Saturdays. Buses operate until about 1 a.m. seven days a week.

509 Harbourfront

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC revises service during most times of the week because the number of passengers on the route decreases after the summer. Fewer passengers travel along the route to and from the waterfront and the Canadian National Exhibition. Mondays to Fridays, the TTC operates streetcars along the route every 8 to 9 minutes before 10 p.m. and every 15 minutes after 10 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the TTC operates streetcars every 9 to 12 minutes during the daytime and every 12 to 15 minutes during the evenings.

The TTC’s summertime fare collection procedure at Harbourfront also ends on Labour Day, Monday, September 1. Starting Tuesday, September 2, TTC drivers again collect fares when you board streetcars at stops along Queens Quay West.

35 Jane

Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC decreases service north of Steeles Avenue from every 21 minutes 20 seconds to every 30 minutes on Saturday mornings. The TTC also increases service at many other times of the week.

40 Junction

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC decreases the frequency of service midday — from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Mondays to Fridays — from every 12 minutes to every 15 minutes.

86 Scarborough

Starting Sunday, September 7, the TTC decreases the service early Sunday mornings before 10 a.m. It operates buses along the route every 14 minutes, instead of every 13 minutes.

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the schedule of the route. Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC also reduces seasonal service along the route.

510 Spadina

On Labour Day, Monday, September 1, the TTC’s summertime fare collection procedure at Harbourfront ends. Starting Tuesday, September 2, TTC drivers will again collect fares when you board streetcars at stops along Queens Quay West.

92 Woodbine South

Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC decreases the service because the number of passengers on the route decreases after the summer. Fewer passengers travel along the route to or from the waterfront. Early Saturday, Sunday and holiday evenings before 10 p.m., the TTC operates buses along the route every 20 minutes instead every 10 minutes. Buses continue to operate until about midnight, seven days a week.


Increase services to colleges and universities

38 Highland Creek

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service from about 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, since more passengers are travelling to and from Centennial College’s Ellesmere Campus and the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus.

191 Highway 27 Rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC resumes operating buses on the 191A branch between Humber College’s North Campus and Kipling Station. The TTC also increases service on the main branch of the route.

44 Kipling South

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service during Monday-to-Friday daytime as more passengers are travelling to or from Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus.

134 Progress

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service during Monday-to-Friday rush hours as more passengers are travelling to or from Centennial College’s Progress Campus.

60 Steeles West

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays as more passengers are travelling to or from York University’s Keele Campus. It also resumes full service along the route.

124 Sunnybrook

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service from about 1:30 until 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays as more passengers are travelling to or from York University’s Glendon Campus.

196 York University Rocket

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC increases the service during Monday-to-Friday daytime and early evenings before 10 p.m. as more passengers are travelling to or from York University’s Keele Campus.


Cancel or decrease seasonal service

172 Cherry Street

Labour Day, Monday, September 1 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses on Cherry Street, south of Commissioners Street to Cherry Beach.

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC only operates buses on the 172A branch. Buses operate every 30 minutes during Monday-to-Saturday evenings and all day on Sundays and holidays, and every 15 minutes during the daytime on Saturdays. Buses operate until about 1 a.m. seven days a week.

193 Exhibition Rocket

Labour Day, Monday, September 1 is the last day of the Canadian National Exhibition and the last day this year that the TTC will operate buses along the route.

30 Lambton

Labour Day, Monday, September 1, is the last day this year that the TTC operates its seasonal Saturday, Sunday and holiday service extending the route into High Park. Starting Tuesday, September 2, all buses at all times of the week end their trips at High Park Station.

86 Scarborough

Labour Day, Monday, September 1 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses on this route to the Toronto Zoo on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Starting Saturday, September 6, all buses operating on the route end their trips at Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue East on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the Monday-to-Friday schedule so that the last bus of each day leaves the Toronto Zoo at 7:06 p.m. (The Zoo closes earlier — at 6 p.m. — seven days a week after Labour Day, Monday, September 1.)

85 Sheppard East

Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC adjusts the Saturday, Sunday and holiday schedule so that the last bus of each day leaves the Toronto Zoo at 7:06 p.m. (The Zoo closes earlier — at 6 p.m. — seven days a week after Labour Day, Monday, September 1.)


Change a seasonal route to a permanent regular route

101 Parc Downsview Park

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC changes this route from a seasonal, summer-only route to a regular route. It will operate buses along the route seven days a week all year long.


Resume services to high schools

The TTC operates many special branches of regular routes to accommodate passengers traveling to or from high schools. It usually doesn’t promote these services on its schedules or information unless it makes changes to them.

Here are three high school branches that the TTC is revising or introducing on Tuesday, September 2.

34 Eglinton East

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC will operate a new Monday-to-Friday trip, leaving Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East at 3:35 p.m. to reduce crowding during the afternoon dismissal time at Northern Secondary School.

12 Kingston Road

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC changes the times of northbound trips that buses leave Neil McNeil Catholic Secondary School during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours to match the dismissal times at the school.

165 Weston Road North

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the schedule to accommodate passengers travelling to Saint Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School. The southbound bus that currently leaves Canada Drive at 7:53 a.m. Mondays to Fridays will serve the stops between Canada Drive and Ashberry Boulevard a few minutes earlier than currently. Monday-to-Friday afternoons, the TTC will operate one more bus on the route. The bus will leave Weston Road and Steeles Avenue at 2:12 p.m. and travel northbound to Canada Drive. It will leave Canada Drive at 2:48 p.m. and travel southbound along the route.


Adjust the schedules of current routes

142 Downtown / Avenue Road Express
143 Downtown / Beach Express

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the schedule during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates the same number of trips, but the times of specific trips from downtown stops may change.

144 Downtown / Don Valley Express

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the schedule during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates the same number of trips, but the times of specific trips from downtown stops may change. It also increases the service on the route.

141 Downtown / Mount Pleasant Express

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the schedule during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours. It operates the same number of trips, but the times of specific trips from downtown stops may change.

12 Kingston Road

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC changes the times of northbound trips that buses leave Neil McNeil Catholic Secondary School during Monday-to-Friday afternoon rush hours to match the dismissal times at the school.

80 Queensway

Starting Saturday, September 6, the TTC adds more time to the schedules of buses operating from about 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and during the daytime on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Adding more time to the schedules reduces the impact of congestion from a City of Toronto construction project on the Queensway between Mimico Creek and Islington Avenue.

86 Scarborough

Starting Tuesday, September 2, the TTC adjusts the Monday-to-Friday schedule so that the last bus of each day leaves the Toronto Zoo at 7:06 p.m. (The Zoo closes earlier — at 6 p.m. — seven days a week after Labour Day, Monday, September 1.)

85 Sheppard East

165 Weston Road North
