TTC building new exit at Castle Frank Station

The TTC recently started a project to build a new sidewalk exit from Castle Frank Station on the 2 Bloor — Danforth subway line.

When the project is finished, passengers will be able to leave both the west- and eastbound subway platforms by stairways that will lead them to the sidewalk along Bloor Street East at the west end of the station. The new exit design will complement the architecture of the original station building.

Work crews will shorten the platforms during the construction so that they can demolish part of the station wall and excavate from the street level to the train level to build the stairways.

It will also build a temporary bus roadway to allow buses to continue to pick up and drop off passengers from the station bus terminal.

The TTC expects to finish work and open the new exit in January, 2010.
