Scarborough RT Encounters Sunday Closures

Sunday service has been suspended on the Scarborough RT, starting this weekend, so that the TTC can perform maintenance work. The TTC will provide express buses along Midland Avenue between the Scarborough Town Centre and Kennedy station while the RT is closed.

The closure will continue for all Sundays except November 19 until December 17. RT cars will operate on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and then will be closed again on Sundays between January 7 and February 11, 2007. Further details can be found here.

Further, construction on the St. Clair streetcar private right-of-way will close the Bathurst/St. Clair intersection to northbound and southbound traffic beginning 7 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. on Monday. This will force the rerouting of 7 Bathurst and 310 Bathurst Blue Night buses. All southbound buses will run along Tichester Road, Heath Street West, Spadina Road, Austin Terrace, Walmer Road and Davenport Road before returning to the regular route. All northbound buses will run along Vaughan Road, Kenwood Avenue and Claxton Boulevard before returning to the regular route.

The project will also close the intersection to northbound and southbound traffic from 7 p.m. on Friday, November 3 to 6 a.m. on Monday, November 6, forcing similar diversions. Further details can be found here.

We would like to thank reader Robert Mackenzie for bringing this news to our attention.

(Update: Saturday, October 7, 7:20 a.m): A reader writes to alert us to the fact that the construction at the Bathurst/St. Clair intersection has to do with the installation of new pedestrian crossovers on the street. Work on the right-of-way is largely complete here and thus not the reason for these diversions.
