DVP Closure to Stress Roads, Transit

This weekend is going to be trying for people heading downtown. The Don Valley Parkway will close Friday night at 11 p.m. for maintenance, reopening Monday morning at 5 a.m. The closure covers the entire highway from the Gardiner Expressway to the 401.

Drivers and TTC patrons along parallel routes such as Don Mills and Victoria Park should expect increased congestion. Crowds may be heavier than usual on the Yonge subway, so leave yourself some extra time if you want to enjoy this spring weekend downtown.

There may also be a possible slow-order on the Bloor-Danforth subway at the Prince Edward Viaduct. The TTC is taking the opportunity of the DVP closure to perform some maintenance on the bridge.

All should be back to its usual slow self for the Monday rush hour.
