Four hurt in HSR, school-bus collision

by John Burman

Four people are in hospital after two buses collided on Garner Road near Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School Thursday morning.

There were no students on the bus at the time.

Two passengers seated in the rear of a Hamilton Street Railway bus westbound on Garner Road suffered minor injuries when the bus collided with an empty school bus at Panabaker Road at 8 a.m.

Police said the school bus, which had stopped before starting a turn, was heavily damaged on its left front side near the driver.

Hamilton police said the driver of the school bus was taken to hospital with neck and head injuries.

The HSR driver suffered leg injuries in the crash. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Panabaker Road, which runs north off Garner east of Fiddlers Green Road, is controlled by a stop sign at Garner.

The collision is still under investigation.
