Streetcar versus bus collision sends 17 to hospital

by Joanna Lavoie

Toronto Emergency Services has confirmed 17 people have now been transported to “various Toronto hospitals” with non-life-threatening injuries following a Thursday collision between a streetcar and a Greyhound coach bus near Dundas and River streets.

Toronto EMS spokesperson Kim McKinnon said five ambulances as well as the Toronto EMS bus are in use to handle the outcome of the crash, which happened at 3 p.m. and lead to the derailment of the affected streetcar.

The intersection is currently off limits to traffic following the crash and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area, especially during the event rush hour.

The TTC is diverting the 505 Dundas streetcar temporarily to Queen Street from Victoria Street to Broadview Avenue.
